Weather still holding
This is an old fashioned
summer with gorgeous sun-
ny days back-to-back. It is
great for the morale and
great for the golf game. Ten-
nis and golf are in full swing
with matches well underway
at Maitland Golf Club. '
Ladies' night August 2 was
another of these beautiful
days. In the first flight, Ver-
na Kane won the low gross
prize and Doris Paquette the
low net. In the second flight,
the low gross winner was
Joan McDougall and low net
was Grace Neville. Low
gross went ,to Chris Hoff-
meyer and low net to Bertha
McGee in the third flight. In
the fourth flight. Vern Frith
won low gross and Pat
Tindel the low net. Irla
Stewart won the prize for the
least number of puts.
The ladies are planning
their invitation on August 17.
It will be a shot gun start at
10 a.m. There are plans for
great golf, food and prizes.
The couples had their 2 -
ball tournament on Friday
evening. The first place win-
ners were Bill Hanly and
Verna Kane. The second
place winners were Jean
Hanly and John Kane. Cap-
turing third place was Bud
Lumby and Don MacEwan.
After a good game of golf
the couples enjoyed a pot-
luck supper at the Hanly's
cottage.

Sunset junior invitational
Wednesday was an ex-
cellent
xcellent day for the Sunset
Golf Club's annual Junior In-
vitational. Eighty-three
juniors were in attendance.
The low gross winner for the
day was 11 -year-old Mike
Weir from Huron Oaks Golf
Club, who shot a 73.
In the girls' division, the
low gross and low net win-
ners were Debbie Core of
Seaforth and Jenny Dundas
of Bluewater respectively.
The bantam low gross win-
ner was Bryan Bicknell of
Indian Hills, while Doug
MacKay of Bluewater won
low net. Sunset winners in
the bantam division were
Tim Connelly and Andrew
MacAdam.
The juvenile winners were
Lee Cupick of Huron Oaks
and Chris Pustouka of
Walkerton, low gross and
low net respectively. Win-
ners from the Sunset were
John Freeman, Ray Bedard
and David Allmasi-
In the junior division, the
low gross winner was Danny
Cates of Huron Oaks and low
net winner was Mark Moss
of Cruigowan. Martin Shantz
was also a winner from the
Sunset.
The Sunset hosted the
Owen Sound District Girls'
Championship 'on Friday,
