Sully and Brandi 109 RCL (Lancaster) scholarship. The scholarship commitlee has awarded these scholarships to Donald Coughlan who has completed his second year of medicine at Queen's University; Gruff Murphy who has Completed one year at Queen's in Engineering (geophysics); Paul Mansz who has completed one year in electrical engineer ng at Waterloo University; and Robed Trebish who has completed one year of civil engineering at Waterloo. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a Grade 13 graduate of the Goderich District Col legiate and have completed with high academic stan- ding, one full academic year of either medicine or dentistry or engineering or have completed two years towards an honors degree in any program at any recognized university in Canada. This scholarship is funded from the interest on a substantial donation from the Sully Foundation to Legion Branch 109. This donation made possible the transfer of the Lancaster bomber, formerly on view at Goderich airport, from Branch 109 to the Warplane Heritage Foundation at Mount Hope which is near Hamilton. The minimum value of this scholarship is $500 and application forms, which are due each year by June 15, are available from the Goderich Col- legiate or the secretary of Branch 109. In July of this year, the Goderich Legion also awarded six bursaries totalling $1600 from the Branch Poppy Fund. These Branch 109 bursaries are available in varying amounts to any local students who are the sons or daughters of Legion members (ordinary or associate) and who require _financial assistance to complete their education beyond the secondary level. Application forms are available from the Branch secretary. Board objects ••• • from page 1 by utilizing this existing space. "It would be unfortunate to allow educational facilities to proliferate around the county and the ratepayers be necessitated to bear a heavy additional tax burden without the Board of Education being allowed to bring this information forward," Mr. Allan said, thanking the OMB for the opportunity to sneak at the hearing. Dr. Vanderkooy said the site south of Wingham is the "nucleus" of a 50 -mile radius from where the students will come. These students will not only come from Huron County, but from Perth, Wellington and Brace. ft's a delicate yet complicated machine. Ministry of Health officials were to have surveyed the Goderich beach and harbour area Wednesday. Many people are concerned about the water quality and its effects on swimmers. Harrison said that while some people would not be affected by the water, others could contract eye, nose, ear or throat infections from swimming in the lake. Because of the high bacteria count and because many people ingest the water when swimming, it could lead to an intestinal infection and cuts may be infected from exposure to the water. The results of samples taken on any day are not known for 24 hours and it will take at least three or ;07 rff r 'rif{Yr f srf+f, Watch for... ladies' slacks by Lady Nash Riviera You Could Be There To Cheer The Boys On To Victory... "It is our duty to warn the public." "It is not just a Goderich problem. Other health units in the province are having the same problem and they are warning the public by posting signs at the beaches." A number of factors have contributed to the polhit ioa problem here, the most notable of which has been the hot, dry weather. Lifeguards employed by the town have been warning swimmers about the possible pollution and subsequent dangers and few people have ignored the warnings. However, it has also tended to discourage tourists from visiting the beach area.
