This winter he hasn't! Our art teacher does beautiful work and is a very good teacher. She is self- taught and she like at Goderich, depended on hav- ing a weekend artist or seminars. But she has come a long way. Her home- is lovely with spacious lawns, flowers and all kinds of trees that make you relax. We seldom paint outdoors. Most of the teaching has been from slides the teacher has taken on her travels. About (aboot) time for cof- fee. I put the kettle on and noon hour we relax m her • lovely living - sitting - music room where you look out to the river. You wouldn't believe how hard Gwe work! By three o'clock many are ready to quit. Actually it takes you a half hour to get ready to paint and longer to finish up - even then, most of the time you still have 'brushes to clean. I must tell you about "aboot". Every once in a while someone will ask, "Are you from Canada?" "I thought so - they all say "aboot"!! Well, that really gets nue! I have never con- sciously said aboot for about. My ou's I always say with a big ow w and I can't figure. ow -w in the devil they hear an oo-oot! Anyway, I'm a good Canadian oot or ow w -t and always tell about our beautiful country - especial- ly in and around Goderich. This winter was warm and dry . and .so. there. -has _ been lots of shuffleboard played_ I love it! It is a real challenge - - I compare it with. lawn bowl- ing, the winter curling. They too, are real competitive. Alley bowling doesn't com- pare with these games but it is a battle, also - I also love the ,stores - all air conditioned - or heated at the need might be. I spent hours just doing a little shop- ping_ Very educational! Some evenings have been quite cool as then I play pool_ I also have a couple of nights of bridge each week: I enjoy. the pool game. Some nights I could hold my own with the men. Sometimes you can't ,, y do anything right. But the men are friendly and they tolerate me but hate to lose to a woman. We all get a big 'kick out of it. Now, THAT'S a game that is a real challenge. This year they also have the bumper pool table and some of the gals will play it. One night a couple dropped in while I was o -o -t and Walt said, "I just told then you were down at the pool hall" Anyway, there are not too many dull moments with me and I enjoy every minute of it. In the same Rec HO, they have card games an(bingo, crafts and exercise sessions certain days_ We have visited Doug and Madeline a lot of Sundays. Quite often their great- grandkids are there enjoying the pool or they have other company. Marg and Murray Holland were surprise visitors. I was happy to see Matt and Janie Jordan from SHAPE near Brussels, Holland. They will soon be retiring and have a home near Fort Meyers waiting for them. I hate to mention weather but this year we had some rain storms that were quite an experience. Somehow, the rain god in the sky has a huge barrel, which full to the brim, is dumped - whoosh - on you,and then quits, then dumps more. Those rain storms areuite interesting and can be terrifying. We didn't have too many. April and May were VERY hot and dry but Velma and Mar- tha artha W. your planters are do- ing O.K. These ladies live in Port Albert. I didn't meet them in Canada! We have had a few rains now, sol guess their summerr is here for iiiiii. I didn't get to Disney World as 1 had hoped but -perhaps later. The sum- mer is nice, I am told, has a shower "most every day. I hope everyone well and hope to see you soon. Love Martha
