Summer Festival on June 24,
Other dignitaries include
Murray Cardiff MP and
Murray Elston MPP.
McCaffrey will arrive in
Blyth with his wife and two
children. After a country
supper in the basement of
Blyth Memorial Hall attend-
ed b31 the board of directors
and patrons of the theatre,
McCaffrey wili officially
declare the Blyth Simmer
Festival open for its ninth
season.
Bob McCall, superinten-
dent of program for the
Huron County Board of
Education, will open the first
exhibition m the Art Gallery,
a show of art by elementary
school children in the coun-
ty. McCall, has played a
large part in the develop-
ment of elementary art,
music and drama program's.
The show will be on display
from June 24 to July 22, from
9 to 8. Tile Art Gallery will
also be open, prior to plays
and during intermission.
Following the ceremonies,„
a bagpiper Will pipe the
dignitaries and audience into
the theatre to see the open-
ing play, Nobody's Child.

50 YEARS AGO
Percy Grant has an-
nounced the re -opening of
the Goderich Inn on
Hamilton Street. Calgary
natives, Mr. and Mrs. Grant
come to Goderich from
Leamington where they had
been engaged 49 -the same
line of business.
Hudson Essex of Canada
Ltd. has announced the
appointment of F.R. Miller,
corner of Victoria Street and
Elgin Avenue, as distributor
for Hudson cars and Essex
Terraplanes. The Essex
Terraplane Special Six
sedan is selling for about
$800.
The Colborne Municipal
Telephone System, Carlow,
has announced that its rates
are being reduced by $8 per
year.
A further cut of. 212 per
cent has been made in the
salaries of teachers at
Goderich Collegiate
Institute. This, with the
previous cut of five per cent,
makes a total cut of 712 per
cent.
25 YEARS AGO
Calling for expenditures of
$800,000, the most extensive
road program in the annals
of Huron County was ap-
proved by county, council
here last Thursday.
Work started this week on
the construction of per-
manent buildings for the
Dominion Rock Salt Com-
pany on the site of the salt
mine at the harbor.
Fifty-five building permits
for projects valued at $88,325
were issued by E.H, Jess -op,
local building inspector,
during the first five months
of 1958.
Niuinerous people from
Goderich and district took
advantage of Air Force Day
on Saturday to visit the
RCAF Station at Centralia.
More than 8,000 attended the
show.

been delayed again as town
council agreed Monday

staff of Alexandra Marine
