In the game Wednesday, -Clinton took
advantage of aflat Goderich team scoring

score flattered the play of the Goderich
team which gave up four unearned runs in
the first inning and trailed 13.5 heading in -to the final liming `

Scott Gamow and Byron Bowman
provided much of the Goderich offence as
they connected for four of the team's six-
hits, each belting two hits in three at bats.
The game against Seaforth Thursday
was a complete turnaround as Goderich
exploded for eight runs in the sixth inning
to defeat Seaforth 19-10. Offence
dominated the game and Goderich held a
slim 10-9 lead after four innings of play.
However, they scored a single run in the
fifth inning and exploded for eight runs in
the sixth to record the 19-10 victory. Byron
Bowman went five innings on the mound
and gave way to David Brown in relief.
The Legion Peewees played in Exeter
Monday and will play their next home
game at Agriculture Park Wednesday
against Dashwood at 6.30 p.m.
Association
appoints
new coaches
The executive of the Goderich Minor
Hockey Association approved travelling
team coaches for the 1983-84 hockey season
at its regular monthly meeting June 15.
Doug Cruickshank will again coach the
Signal -Star juveniles and Larry Jeffrey
will handle the midget team. Former atom
coach, Steve Buchanan will move up to
coach peewee this year and Brian Moody

novice. A bantam coach has not been

hockey for the 1982-83 season totalled

for a grant to purchase; goalie equipment
and letters requesting donations were
forwarded to local service clubs.

Boat refuelling drill
Refuelling procedures are
simple, but must be
understood by the owner and
crew. All craft, regardless of
size, must be securely
moored at the fuel dock. All
open flames must be ex-
tinguished and all
passengers must go ashore.
On cruisers, "cuddy cabin"
outboard craft andsaileraft,
close all hatches and doors..
No smoking within 30 feet of
boat or pumps. Have a fire
extinguisher close by, on the
dock, fore emergency use.
When filling tanks, hoid noz-
zle firmly against fuel pipe
and use a grounding cable if
available. Do not overfill.
Watch overflow vent that in-
dicates a hill tank.
After fuelling, hose down
any spol. Open doors and
hatches to thoroughly ven-
tilate boat. Turn on blower
and be sure all fumes are
clear before starting
engines. On open type craft
with engines hatched -in,
open hatches for ventilation.
Use nose . test, as natural
sir, to be sure there are
no fumes. Only after craft is
fully ventilated and engines
running, should passengers
be allowed to board.
Outboard portable tanks
SHOULD NEVER BE
BILLED IN THE BOAT.

All canoeists should know
how to swim and float in the
water. The ability to swim
develops confidence but
should not lead paddlers to
overlook common-sense
rules. Keep the centre of
gravity low by kneeling . on
the bottom to paddle.
Distribute gear evenly over
the centre portion of the
canoe. Refrain from snaking
sudden moves. Wear a life-
