Clinton student wins
The Canada Employment
Centre for Students is
pleased to announce the
overall winner of the
Promotional Ad contest is
Nhan Tran ofClinton.
Preliminary rounds were
held at 'each high school
( Central Huron, Goderich
Collegiate, Seaforth, and
South Huron) to determine
whose poster design would
continue in the competition.
Nhan Tran, a grade ten
student at Central Huron
Secondary School, was
judged oto have the best
design by the judges.
The judges were Goderich
artist Doug Darnbrough and
Agri -press representative
John Maurer.
By winning the final
judging Tran receives $35
cash from Agri -press, as
well as a number of other
prizes from the Student
Centre. Nan's poster will
now be used in. this area's
Hire -a -student advertising
campaign ,by the Canada
Employment Centre for
Students. The Centre sin-
cerely thanks all students
who contributed to the
contests, the local judges,
and prize donators in helping
run a successful ad contest.
Establish advisory council
Goderich town council has
taken the first steps to
establishing a ports advisory
council.
The council, to be com-
prised of approximately five
members, will advise the
Department of Transport
and its regional councils, on
the affairs of Goderich
Harbour. It was , recom-
mended that the advisory
council members have, a
affiliation with the harbour,
through recreation or
related industry.
Council met with
representatives of Transport
-Canada recently to discuss
the terms of references for
the proposed advisory
councils and discovered it
was one of the first ports to'
respond to the request.
At its regular meeting
Monday, council passed a
motion calling - for ad-
vertisements to placed
seeking interested, in-
dividuals to sit on the
council.
The administrative
committee of council will
review the applications and
make a recommendation to
council with respect Ito the
representation.
Train cars derail
MITCHELL - A train
derailment which took four
Canadian National(CN) cars
off the track two and one-half
miles west of Mitchell has
resulted in an estimated
$30,000 and has put the track
out of use for several days.
The accident took place on
the evening of June 13 at
approximately 6:30 p.m., but
the cause, now under in-
vestigation by CN, is
unknown.
The Sebringville OPP
received a call at 6:37 p.m.
and officers attended the
scene of the accident, about
one-quarter mile east of
sideroad 5, Hibbert Town-
ship. There were no inquires
or dangerous chemicals
involved.,
The four cars that were
derailed included a caboose,
a flat car carrying two road
graders, a covered topper
car carrying 100 tons of salt,
and the engine.

Auburn area lady dies
hospital
Mae Glousher died at the
Clinton Public Hospital on
Saturday, June 4, in her 76th
Year -
She was born the daughter
of Samuel and Mary Jane
Creighton.
She married Herbert
Glousher in December of
1925 and lived all her life in
the Auburn -Blyth area.
She was predeceased by
her husband in May of 1982;
one son, Robert, in January
of 1980; her parents; and two
brothers, John and William
Creighton.
She is survived by one
daughter, Mrs. Keith (Jean)
Good of R.R.1 Auburn; three
sons, James of Auburn,
Donald of Blyth and Kenneth
of R.R.1 Auburn; 21 grand-
children; a number of great-
grandchildren; and one
nephew, Harold Creighton of
Fort Vermillion, Alberta.
The funeral service was
held on June 7 at the Tasker
Funeral Home in Blyth. Mr.
George Cowan, a friend and
neighbor, officiated.
Burial took place in Union

Board approves salary increases

The Huron -Perth Separate
School Board approved five
per cent salary increases for
several employee groups at
its June 13 meeting.
All effective for the 1983-84
school year, the salary in-
creases are as follows: at-
tendance counsellor $7.88
per hour, teacher aides $5.78
per hour and secretarial
assistants ranges from $6.30
to $6.93 per hour.
The board office custo-
dians also had their monthly
rate increased to $628.40.
