Genevieve (Duffy) Hurley, She attended school. in Brantford. An April 20, 1942 she. married James Peter Sherratt in Brantford and they moved to Goderich. The late Mrs. Sherratt was a life member of the Ladies' Auxiliary to Royal Canadian Legion Branch 109; a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church; and a member of the CWL of that church. She is survived by her husband; eight children, Mrs. Ken (Geraldipe) Million of Hanover, James of Goderich, Mrs. Dan (Maureen) Sheardown of Goderich, Gerrard of Brantford, Mrs. Ray (Mary Frances) Zoethout of Guelph, Patrick of Port Albert, Mrs. John (Rita) Burroughs. of Goderich and Mrs. Gary (Margaret) Neudert of Brantford; one sister, Mrs. Mary Crowley of Simcoe; and 22 grand- children. She waspredeceased by two children m infancy; and one brother, Jerome Joseph Hurley. The body of the late Mrs. Sherratt rested at Stiles Funeral Home. A funeral mass was held at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 25 at 11 a.m. The Reverend Father Philip Sherratt was the main celebrant of the mass. The Reverend Father Simon J. McDonald and the Reverend Father Leo Rainier were co - celebrants. Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery, Colborne Township. Pallbearers were Terry Crowley, John Buchanan, Jack Hird, Mel Hare, John Garrick and John Allen. Members of the CWL and the Ladies' Auxiliary to Branch 109 formed an honor guard at the funeral. The Ladies' Auxiliary and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 109lheld a memorial service, at the .fungral, home Tuesday evening, May 24 at 7 p.m. Prayers were also said at the funeral home Tuesday at 8 p.m. JOHN KEITH MURISON John Keith Murison of lot 6, concession 6, Ashfield Township, died at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich on Monday, May 30 at the age of 72. He was born in Montreal on June 4, 1910 to John and Ethel Matilda .(Young) Murison. He was an electrician with Ontario Hydro and' had lived in the Goderich area since 197.5. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. He married Elva, Jean Nixon in Stoney Creek on July 15, 1939. She survives him. S " Also suryiving him are three children, Mrs. Linda Joyce Frances .of Hamilton, Elizabeth Jean Murison of Taipei, Taiwan and John Murison of K^illgsbridge; and one granddaughter. He was predeceased by one brother, Donald Alexander Munson and his parents. . The body of the late Mr. Murison rested at Stiles Funeral Home, Goderich. A funeral service and com- mittal were held at Kingdom Hall on Wednesday, June 1 at 2 p.m. Brother Walter Gardiner officiated. Interntient was in the Maitland Cemetery, Goderich. MAY A. JOHNSTON May A. Johnston of Welland, Ontario died Monday., February 28CM her 82nd year. Born in Goderich, she Moved with her family to St. Catharines as a young woman, and her father and mother, ,I the late James Hamilton and Mary -Ann Johnston who became active members of the church in that city, along with their thse�eee---daughters, Florence Jessie and May. In 1937, May and Jessie moved to Welland where theyboth lived until death. May worked over the years as a bookkeeper for several automobile agencies in that city and retired only a. year and a few monthsago. After moving to, Welland, May long cherished a dream of seeing the church of Christ established in that city, a dream which she lived to see come true in 1981. She travelled extensively to ard formed t woman's funeral cJE3ITLJAREE1 participate in numerous evangelistic campaigns in foreign countries. She was also very active in corresponding with hun- dreds of students, par- ticularly m African coun- tries, enrolled in courses with the World Bible School. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Florence Jones and Jessie. She is survived . by two nephews, James and William Jones. Funeral services were condupted in the church building on Ontario Street in St. Catharines. S.F. Tim- merman, minister of the church in Welland, officiated and was assisted by Don Whitfield, David Carruthers, Murray Smith, Phil Wallace and Louis Pauls. The men of Welland church served as pallbearers. Interment was in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. EDWARD JAMES KAITTING Edward James Kaitting died suddenly at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington on Wednesday, May 18 in his 56th year. He was born in Goderich on May 28,1927 to Harold and Lillian (Garrick) Kaitting., He attended public school -in Goderich and district and spent a short term at GDCI. He was predeceased by his parents and by his first wife, Mary Belmore who died in 1973. He is survived, by his second wife, Goldia Sauve; one son, Gordon Thomas Kaitting of Milton; three daughters, Elizabeth Jane, Mary Ellen May, and Gloria Lillian; one stepson, Calvin Edward; four grand- children, Connie, Colleen, Jennifer and Justin; one brother, George of Calgary; and three sisters, Helen Kabatoff of Prince George, B.C., Laura McLean of Calgary and Grace Billers of Brampton. Gravelle, 78, formerly of 178 Brunswick Street, Stratford, died Saturday, May 28 at the Stratford General Hospital. Born in Stratford, he was the son of the late John Gravelle and the former Delphine Badour. He had been a carman with the Canadian National Railway until his retirement in 1967. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. He was predeceased by his wife, the former, Jean Mary Mathieson. He is'°survived by one son John' and daughter-in-law Luanna; and -one daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Madeline) Hart, all of Stratford; six granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one sister, Marie O'Dwyer. A funeral mass was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, Strat- ford on Monday, May 30 at 10 a.m. The Reverend J. Sharpe officiated. Interment was in Avondale Cemetery. MRS. ELVA MAUD (ROBINSON) THOMPSON Mrs. Elva Maud (Robinson) Thompson of 126 St. David Street, Goderich died in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Monday, May 23 at the age of 83. She was born in East Wawanosh Township on March 7, 1900 to Thomas and Maud (Beadle) Robinson. She married Joseph Clark Thompson in East Wawanosh Township on. December 8, 1920. They lived in West Wawanosh Township until 1925, then in Seaforth until 1927, then m Mitchell for five years and then in Tillsonburg until moving to Goderich in 1952. '89 held a service at the funeral ,home Wednesday evening, May 25 at 7 p.m. WILLIAM GEORGE HUNTER William George Hunter passed away in Wingham and District Hospital on Monday, May 16, 1,983 in his 72nd year. Bill farmed in Ashfield Township until 1971 when he moved to Lucknow, where he drove a school bus for several years. While farming, Bill was involved in the Ashfield Federation of Agriculture and the Lucknow District Co-operative. Bill was a member of Zion School Board; chairman of Ashfield District School Board; a member of Lucknow High School Board, contin- uing to serve as a member of Wingham and District High School Board when Lucknow High School closed. in this capacity he assisted in ad- ministering the Alexander MacKenzie. Endowment Fund for Lucknow students. Bill was a former member of Zion United Church, where he served on the board and as Sunday School Super- intendent for many years. After moving to Lucknow, he became a member of Luck - now United Church, also serving on the board there. He was particularly interest- ed in the Senior Citizens' Club where he served as treasurer until his illness. He is survived by his wife, Beryl, the former Beryl Gar- dner of Zion; daughter, Mar- lene Keane of Newmarket; son, Larry of Pefferlaw; grandchildren, Arlene and Brian Keane, Neil Scarlett and Laura Hunter and one sister, Elleda Laidlaw. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Jenny Hunter and one sister, Win- nifred. The funeral service was held Thursday, May 19, 1983 at the MacKenzie and Mc- Creath Funeral Home, with interment in Greenhill Cern- -etery. Rev. Warren McDoug- all officiated.
