leachers
attend
conference
Five Goderich teachers,
Mrs. Flora Neat, Mrs.
Donelda MacDonald, Don
Mason, Lawry Snell and
Caroline Young attended the
Sixth Annual Curriculum
Conference at Blue Moun-
tain, Collingwood from May
5 to May 17.
The conference theme,
"Footnotes - To Disoovec the
Source", focused on the
sources and promises of
curriculum in the schools.
Challenging speakers and
stimulating workshops
questioned who speaks for
the children in the
curriculum, what respon-
sibility the political process
has in curriculum
development and how
teachers translate
curriculum design into real
experience.
The Rt. Hon. Flora
MacDonald opened the
sessions Thursday with her
address on "The Road to
Camelot". She stated that
educators must be prepared
to face many changes in the
immediate future.
Other keynote speakers
included Ken Lee, Principal,
Lincoln County; Barbara
Chisholm- Child Welfare
Consultant; and Knowlton
Nash, CBC correspondent
and anchorman.
Curriculum '83 was an
ideal opportunity to meet
with fellow educators and
discuss
concerns and plan
directions for the future.
