Association, took place

Authority
appoints
members
Two area residents have
been appointed to the Huron
County Housing Authority,
Housing Minister Claude
Bennett announced recently.
Barry Reid, a chartered
accountant, and , Harold
Robinson, an insurance
agent with Howick Mutual
Insurance Company and
past warden for Huron Coun-
ty, will serve on the seven -
member authority which
manages Ontario Housing
Corporationis 415 assisted
housing umts in the Huron
County area.
The federal, provincial
and municipal governments
are invited tonominate
individuals for appointment
to the housing authority by
provincial order -in -council.
The province appoints the
housing authority`chaifznan:
Commenting on 'the ap-
pointment, OHC chairman
Allan Moses noted that the
day -today management of
all of OHC's 94,000 housing
units is carried out by local
housing authorities,
although the primary
responsibility for assisted
housing remains with OAC.
"By volunteering their
time to serve on the local
housing authority, private
citizens like Reid and Robin-
son are helping to ensure
that Ontario's assisted
housing program is sensitive
and can respond to the needs
of the many communities it
serves," said Moses.
The Huron County Housing
Authority manages 331
senior citizen assisted hous-
ing units and 84 units for low-
income families. The
authority also provides hous-
ing for physically -disabled
and mentally -retarded per-
sons who are capable of liv-
ing on their own. -

hospital
Mrs. Meris Harvey was
guest speaker at the March
meeting of the Hospital Aux-
iliary. She' spoke on aging
and attitudes toward aging.
She stated that they have
tried to do away with too
much regimentation in the
Chronic Care Unit. Orienta-
tion sessions are held on
Mondays when tire
newspaper is read to the pa
-
hogs and the staff talks and
listens to their problems.
Wednesday is exercise day
and a church service is held
on Saturdays. Patients are
able to make use of the Oc-
cupational Therapy Room.
Many of the patients have
very few visitors and are
quite lonely.
Final arrangements were
made for the bake sale.
Committee Chairmen
were asked to have their
yearend reports ready for
the annual meeting on Mon-
day, April 18.
Following the meeting
Craig Cass took the
members on a tour of the
