was the Local 1863 machine.
The 10 to 5 win for the Local
moved them solitarily into
second place. Inspirational
leadership by. Charlie
Crawford and loyal obedient
support from Riley, Fal finer
and Kellough were the keys
to this important triumph.
Veteran educator Donalda
Macdonald resembled the
proverbial rose between two
thorns as she tried to inspire
thornlike teammates Yeo
and Ritchie to greater ef-
forts. A valiant effort
Donalda, truly valiant.
In an interhouse com-
petition, the GDCI Teacher
No. 1 team held on to that
rating as they squeaked out a
last shot 6 to 4 win over the
GDCI Teacher No. 2 four-
some. In the true spirit of
conmradeship, neither team
took advantage of the other's
faults to build a big end. A
single point was a typical
end. Shelley Warr's efforts
were either inspirational or
deathly boring depending on
your allegiance as she never
missed one shot during the
entire contest.. Fortunately,
the GDCI No. 1 team's secret
weapon was its unique
combination of players. It
included the wife of the
opposing . skip; a former,
GDCI student, a novice vice
and a very'' sick physically
and mentally, skip.
There is no doubtahowever,
that this is only round one of
the GDCI championship
fight and round two is only a
fow weeks away. .
