Does your favorite reading material issue. include each of Field and Streaaa If you answered yes to each of the above questions than you will want to be at the Bedford Hotel in Goderich this Saturday, when the first annual arm wrestling tournament will be held. More than 50 local men are expected to take part in the contest which will be judged by former Canadian arm wrestling champion, Bruce Kropf of Tavistock. Current champion, Bob Snarey of Shakespeare will also be on hand. Whether he plans to take part in the tournament is not known. Judging will be based on three classes; men weighing under 165 pounds, those weighing between 165 and 200, and those weighing 200 pounds or over. Prizes will be awarded to the top three contestants in each class. The weigh in for the tournament will take place between 12 noon and 1 p.m. and the contest will begin at 1 p.m. in the Court Lounge. The finals will start at 7 p.m. Although women are not allowed to take part this year, Bedford Hotel officials say if the tournament is a success, women may be included next year. 1 • N RAK:OSIGNA10 .4MW.41? • Petites win 5-3 The Goderich petite ringette team scored three goals in the first period and coasted to a 5-1 win over Seaforth in exhibitimplay. Goderich led 3-1 after one period of pla`y and clinched the victory with two goals in the second period. Tina Hamilton, Shelley Adams and Trisha Rumig scored first period goals for Goderich. Adams scored her second goal of the game in the first minute of the second period and Mary Sue MacLennan scored the final Goderich goal midway through the' final period. Teams tie 2-2 Scotia Bank and Garb and Gear played to a 2-2 tie in the first game of bantam house league playoffs Wednesday. The tie gives each team, one point in the best -of -three series. The second game of the series will be played Wednesday, February 23 at 7 p.m. Goaltenders Jeff Scott of Scotia Bank and Jeff Strickland of Garb and Gear were outstanding in the game and both held their respective teams in the game with key saves. Shawn Larder scored both goals for Garb and Gear with linemate Tom Bean assisting. Ron Todgham scored two goals for Scotia Bank with Steve Johnston assisting. In two exhibition games this week, Goderich teams came away with two vic- tories. In one game, Garb and Gear scored two goals in the final minute of the third period to edge Belrnore 4-3. Goderich led 2-1 after the first period on goals by Tom Bean and Shawn Larder. Behnore scored twice in the second period to hold a 3-2 lead but Shane Worsell tied the game with one minute remaining in the game and Rod Nurse scored with 39 seconds left to give Goderich the win. In the second game Saturday, Scotia Bank defeated Listowel 5-1. Goderich led 1-0 after one period on a goal by Dave Duncan and Ron Todgham scored the only goal of the second period to boost Goderich into a two -goal lead. Goderich broke the game open in the final period scoring. three straight goals before Listowel replied with a single goal.
