That Big Drain -During the past

caved in in two place.) leaving two

other in front of John Hawkshaws
The affects ef this 'has been feat al-
ong Main Street as qtti te a nu rn b e
of . cellars have ibeen flooded with'
water, The Grist Mill ,had to close
dawn on Saturday and also on Mon-
day 'en nocourift of the water in the
basement, They also had quite o. bit
of stuff dein:aged by kthe water. It
now looks as 'ttough the question of
a new drain which has been ogitated
for several years bas been no idle
speculation. There have been a num-
ber of suggestions as to repairing the
damage done but the council seem fa,
take the wisest course by protecting
tha openings until such time cis an
engineer can be .secured and likes
for putting down a permanent drain
can (be adoplbed. There art...already
'two very large openings lint who can
ekbb bow many more have started.
A s the town ie liable' for damages, if
the drain is not fixed up right it
may prove a serious matter fur the
town'. -
