BY ANN BAYNHAM,
HURON COUNTY
HEALTH UNIT
It is the responsibility of
the parents to provide a safe
environmOnt in the car as
well as the home for their
children.
Parents should be en-
couraged
ncouraged to give up the
tradition of the mother,
naturally wanting to leave
the hospital with the new
baby in her arms. A child
who- is placed in a child
restraint seat from its first
ride, will accept this as the
only method of travelling.
The family should make it
a policy not to drive
anywhere unless everyone is
buckled in.
At the toddler stage, we
can overcome the resistance
crisis by being positive in
our attitudes. The car seat
helps them see out the win-
dow and keeps ` them from
bumping their heads.
Another hazard is that the
unrestrained child could fall
from a moving car through
an open window or door. By

"PARTING OF THE WAVES"
I sit and watch the boats go by
and know that you can see,
The wake from a passing ship
and the gulls circling constantly.
I know that God had called, and
it was time for you to go,
1 know that we will meet again, -
how soon only He will know.
I sit and think of days gone past',
the stories you once told,
Of wind and gale and heavy '

the sea hos become very still,
But in our hearts you will
always be leaning on the rail.

Adults can drive without

Another advantage of us-

when there is more than one

Children need praise for
