Parents should be en- couraged ncouraged to give up the tradition of the mother, naturally wanting to leave the hospital with the new baby in her arms. A child who- is placed in a child restraint seat from its first ride, will accept this as the only method of travelling. The family should make it a policy not to drive anywhere unless everyone is buckled in. At the toddler stage, we can overcome the resistance crisis by being positive in our attitudes. The car seat helps them see out the win- dow and keeps ` them from bumping their heads. Another hazard is that the unrestrained child could fall from a moving car through an open window or door. By McALLISTER I would like to express my sincere appreciation to my fellow workers at G&E and for all the gifts, cards and visits I received while a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, recently. Special thanks to Dr. Hawkins, his staff and nurses on fourth floor, and to all those who lent a hand at home. -Robert. -5x McGEE We wish to express our thanks to Dr. D. "PARTING OF THE WAVES" I sit and watch the boats go by and know that you can see, The wake from a passing ship and the gulls circling constantly. I know that God had called, and it was time for you to go, 1 know that we will meet again, - how soon only He will know. I sit and think of days gone past', the stories you once told, Of wind and gale and heavy ' sees that only o sailor knows. 1 know the waves have passed, the sea hos become very still, But in our hearts you will always be leaning on the rail. -Sadly missed and always remembered, son Harold, daughter -in -low Phyllis and grandchildren' Duane, Randy, ' ..... .: LOST: In Elgin Studio and Fram- ing, Toyota car keys, taken in error from counter. Adults can drive without the dangerous distraction of children moving around the car. Another advantage of us- ing restraint systems is that when there is more than one child, they are physically separated and less likely. to bother each other. Children need praise for good behaviour when travelling in order to rein- force the pattern. The Public Health Nurse has contact with the preg- nant women through prenatal classes. She plays an, important community role by presenting informa- tion on vehicle safety and emphasizing the need for children to travel safely. The Health. Unit distributes safe- ty literature as a reminder to parents to buckle up their children. Visit stores for informa- tion on prices and types of child restraint seats available. Check to make sure it designed for the age 'and weight of your child and that it can be installed in your particular vehicle. All manufacturers of child restraint seats must meet the standards set by Transport Canada. I ATTENTION: Newlyweds To Be! 4110. Welcome Wagon BRIDAL PARTY -art✓ wt„-.•1,:•.
