meeting to order and
members and visitors joined

ting at the piano.
The president then
welcomed all and read an
"Old English Prayer", very
appropriate for the first
meeting of the year,
The roll call, "A New
Product I Have Used",
brought forward many new
ideas and useful hints for the
housewife.
Minutes of the last meeting
were read by the secretary,
Mrs. Allan Stoll and
correspondence was read
and attended to. It included
New Year greetings from
F.W.I.O. president, Mrs.
Keith Hiepleh; a letter from
the Ministry of Agriculture
and Food regarding Huron
County Dairy Princess, Miss
Taylor; a letter announcing
that special W.I. days will be
held at the Erland Lee home
on May 31, June 2, November
30 and December 1 which is a
special Christmas
celebration time; • and a
letter regarding the Officers'
Conference May 31 -June 2.
Tiger Dunlop Women's
Institute will be celebrating
their 35th anniversary this
year and plans are now set

make arrangements for this
special event.
The committee in charge
of Jean Clark's memorial
reported it plans to have this
for the April celebration.
Mrs. Ila Bean, convener of
Family and Consumer
Affairs, gave the motto
which was an interesting
-poem, "The. Garden of
Behaviour" and , then in-
troduced Mrs. Fordyce
Clark, Mrs. Guy Emerson
and Mrs. Dorothy Reed who
had consented to acquaint
the members with the
working of the Archives.
Mrs. Emerson read a brief
on the work of the Historical
Society and Mrs. Clark
circulated yearly books on
these findings which proved
very interesting and
educational, and answered
questions in this regard,
welcoming anyone who
wished to help in this special
work.
Mrs. Kaitting thanked the
ladies and presented them
with a gift.
There will not be an
Institute meeting in
February. The next meeting
will be Thursday, March 24
at 1:45 p.m. when the topic
will be on Agriculture and
Canadian Affairs with Mrs.
Cora Sherwood in charge.
The meeting closed with
The Queen and The Grace
after which' everyone en-
joyed a social half hour with
lunch served by the com-
mittee of Mrs. D. McNeil,
Mrs. Cora Sherwood and
Mrs. Margaret Jewell.
Card Party
At the euchre card party in
Colborne Township Hall on
Thursday evening, January
27, there were nine tables in
play. Winners were Mrs.
Dave Harman and Mrs.
Lillian. Turner and Charles
Johnston and Dorothy
Fowler (playing as a man).
Everyone seems to enjoy
the evening of cards and the
next party will be Thursday,
February 10, weather per-
mitting.
School News
Colborne Central School
had plans for a winter
carnival week, February 1-4
with the main activities on
Friday. As this . carnival is
planned for along the lines of
the Quahog Winter Carnival,
winter weather ands now is a
very important. factor. If the
weather turns colder with
some snow by Friday;: It Will
be a very special day,

Biuewater Shrine Club
Over 70 members and
guests of the Bluewater
Shrine Club attended a
dinner meeting held at the
Candlelight Restaurant in
Goderich on Wednesday,
January 26.
The Bluewater Shrine Club'
is affiliated with Mocha •
Temple, London. Units such
as the Fire Brigade, the
Horse Patrol, the Scooter
Patrol and Temple Guard
have become a familiar sight
at parades and other
celebrations throughout
Huron County. Shrine built
and supported hospitals are
renown throughout the world
for their work with crippled
children and with children
who are burn victims.
