Goderich Township Council holdsinaugural meeting
The inaugural meeting of
Goderich Township Council
for 1983 was held in the
township office at
Holmesville on December 6
at 11 a.m. Present wereG-H.
Stirling, Deputy Reeve J.
Reder and councillors P.
Osborn, J. "Lodges and L.
Cox_The two new members,
Bodges and Cox, took the
Oath of Allegiance and
Declaration of Office.
Reeve and Mrs. Stirling
then treated council and
officials to dinner at their
home and council re-
convened at 1:30 p.m.
By-law 18-1982, a by-law
for setting the salaries for
1983, was 'cussed, partly
filled in, given two readings
and approved as of second
reading.
By-law 19-1982, a by-law
for appointing various
persons to fill certain offices
for 1983, was partially filled
in, given two readings and
approved as of the second
reading.
R. Wirrtele of Kitchener
and Mrs. M. Batkin were
present at the meeting to
discuss the status of Mill
Road. Mr. Wurtele was
concerned with the road
insofar as it concerns his
property and Mrs. Batkin
was trying to obtain
background data on the road
for the Huron Historical
Society. Council passed a
motion that the clerk in-
vestigate the steps required
to clarify the status of the
Mill Road.

A motion was passed to
have the clerk consult with
the solicitor regarding the
disposition of the two lots
that were to be deeded to the
township as bond for com-
pletion of the various terms
of the S.A.M. Sub -dividers
Agreement and if the deeds
have not been provided, that
the solicitor proceed to
obtain the two deeds in-
volved and the balance of the
five per cent cash in lieu of
park lands.
The solicitor was also
instructed to collect the
balance of the money oWed
by R.H. Peever and -or
Harbour Lights Develop-
ment for services rendered
by B.M. Ross and
Associates.
The treasurer was
authorized to represent the
township at the Huron
County Tax Sale.
A building permit was
approved for John Oskam
for a bam addition on lot 15,

two building permits were
approved when Goderich
Township Council held a
spade! meeting November
29.
Tile drain loans for Franz
Hellerschmidt for $17,025 for
lot 24, concession 4 and for
$4,025 for lot 33, concession 4
and for Doug Bland for $3,500
for lot 30, concession 6 were
approved subject to the
availability of funds.
Building permits for S.
Floyd for a mobile home on
lot 10, Base Line (Morgan's
Park) and for Ted Van der
Wouden for a storage
building on lot 37, concession
4 were approved. A request
for a building permit by John
Preater for a summer cot-
tage on lot 11, Plan 20 was
also approved but Preater
was told to consult with the
building inspector before
starting construction.
Mr. Jardine was present at
the meeting to explain his
request to keep poultry in the
Blue Water Beach area, his
intention to purchase
depending on approval.
Council passed a motion that
he be permitted -to keep up to
25 Canadian Breed show
birds at any one time and
that they be kept confined in
a closed building.

the Treasurer of Ontario and
$6,605 for road superin-
tendent payroll.
Council then adjourned to
December 20.
