Rawlings says,"`the glass cut a branch artery and I was bleeding pretty badly but then the police arrived." Sargeant Hilgendorf and Constable Livesey were the two officers who arrived on the scene. As he explains,"if the cut had been a little to the left or to the right it would have cut .'main artery. and I would have been in big trouble." Rawlings is also lucky in one other way. Since he is left handed and his left hand is now in a sling, Rawlings has been exempted from all of his school exams.
