Local men apply for Naval
Veterans Assoc charter
A group of Goderich and
area men have taken steps to
apply for a charter to form a
Huron County Branch of the
Canadian Naval Veterans
Association.
The decision was made
following an organizational
meeting at the Goderich
Legion Friday, October 22
which featured guest
speakers Bill Swindall and
Walter Weston of the London
area branch.
A steering committee
consisting of Bruce Mansz,
Ed Tonks, John Stringer,
Gord Hulley and 4,v Reg
Huckins was formed to in-
vestigate the feasibility of
obtaining a charter. The
steering committee will be
responsible for the
nomination of officers and
committees, contact with
national headquarters, make
arrangements for meetings,
establish agendas and
prepare a tentative yearly
calendar of events.
The veteran's group
agreed to lay a special
wreath on Remembrance
Day and established annual
dues at po.
Several members of the
group attended the branch
meeting in London Monday.
The next meeting for the
Huron Chapter is set for
Monday, November 15 at the
Goderich Legion and all
present will be considered
charter members.
