champion roller skaters, for
a three -evening per-
tormance in the West Street
rink here last week.
The catch basins at the
intersection of Trafalgar and
Victoria, Streets are being
put in and when completed,
children will not he com-
pelled in spring to walk to
school in slush and water.
Nut coal has gone up to
$7.50 per ton and it is said the
end is notyet.
The roller skating rink has
changed handp,the Craigie
Brothers having purchased
the plant and good will from
Mr. Steinbach.

Craigie Brothers have

At a special meeting of the
town council on Thursday,
the tender of Frank Elliott of
$400 cash for the King
Edward hotel property on
Kingston, Street , was ac-
. cepted with the provision
that Mr. Elliott give . a
written agreement to spend
$1500 in improving .the
property within one year.
Council ' has appointed
O.W. Sturdy acting assessor
and tax collector during the

nection with the Victory loan

seven hundred civilians

E.U. Cleveland, who has
successfully conducted a
baking business on West
Street for 28 years. has
locked up his shop and
ceased business, leaving
only two bread bakers m
town, whereas a few years
ago, during the depression,
the town had five. The
reasons for Mr. Cleveland's
decision are ail related to the
war and its restrictions.

head frame of the main shaft
at the rock salt plant will
commence Monday.
Federal and provincial
aiithorities have put their
seal of approval on a
Goderich land assembly plan
involving the development of
22 fully -serviced lots located
in the vicinity of GDCI. Cost
of development will be
shared by the two levels of
government.
The Goderich Lions Club
celebrated its 35th an-
niversary at the Bedford
Hotel Friday evening.

Ontario Premier William
Davis unveiled a Jubilee
Three plaque at the Goderich
town hall Friday, and then
was guest of honor at a $20 a
plate dinner at the Legion

more presentations honoring

affair was one of the taste`

Garlerich's 150th birthday
celebrations wind down.
With a new facelift to the
Goderich arena,. the
Goderich Recreation and
Community Centre Board
has made a decision not. to
rehang the more than 40
advertising signs that were
previously suspended
around the rink.
The Goderich Airport
Committee expects to name
a permanent full-time air-
port manager by November
1 after recently receiving
approval from town council.
