Carmen Hayden, retired area farnier, reports corn in this area is of good quality and the price still remains low. Weather conditions couldn't be better for harvesting the grain and get- ting the fall plowing done. Many cottagers returned to the village to spend the weekend and enjoy the warm sunshine and the beautiful fall colours. Tom Livingstone, a resi- dent of Port Albert and a member of Circle City Toastmasters Club in Goderich, was one of the speakers at their recent meeting held at the Maitland Golf Club. His topic was, "How Great Thou Art", us- ing those words to describe the early pioneers and the great advances 'man has made in less than 150 years. Toastmasters is a club where one can improve his ability to give a prepared speech and to speak on a given topic on a two -minute warning. Members also study parliamentary pro- cedure. Guests are welcome to attend the meetings: The next meeting of the club will be November 3 at 6 p.m. at the Maitland Golf Club. Tom Livingstone, who was one of the Charter members of the, Kitchener -Waterloo Club, will attend its 25th an- niversary Saturday, October 30 at the Granite Club in Kit- chener. Fishing Many anglers line the banks of the Nine Mile River at Port, Albert these days, coming from Walpole Island, SeaLc-ad o rr a -n d Woodstock. In an interview with several fishermen Fri- day, they report that Thursday was good. Friday until 10 a.m. had been poor. Saturday morning, fishing was good for Scott Westecott, age 14 and his 14 - year -old brother Raymond from Kingsbridge who were walking around the downtown area of the village with a 14 pound salmon which they had just caught. Roy Bellinger, Con- servation Officer, reports that fishing in Bayfield has been quite good. At a recent fishing contest held at Bayfield, the largest fish caught was a Rainbow weighing 10 pounds, one oz.
