Word has been received by
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Robb
that their son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Edwin McCutcheon
of Lion's Head had the
misfortune to lose a barn, a
shed. a quantity of hay and
some haying equipment, and
a quantity of lumber that had
just been piled in a day or
two before. The fire was
started in the early morning
hours by lightning, one day
last week.
Mrs. Jitn MacKenzie was
the hostess Thursday even-
ing to the monthly meeting of
the W.M.S. of the Ashfield
Presbyterian Church.

had a number of their rela-
tives visit with them lately
from Ridgetown.

annual Christmas Country Fair held at Saltford Valley Hall
last Wednesday and Saturday. The crowds turned out in
their usual large numbers to buy crafts, home-made baking

Mustangs lose two games
The Clinton Mustangs lost
two close .games last
weekend in Central Jr. 'C'

travelled to Port Elgin and
lost a close one 3-2, while on
Sunday afternoon they drop-
ped a 4-0 decision to the
Walkerton Black Hawks.
,, Port Elgin opened the
scoring on Friday night with
a pair of first period goals
while the Stangs were held
scoreless. Newcomer Darryl
Graham opened the scoring
in the second period for the
Stangs assisted by Brian
Horner. The teams traded
goals in the third period as
Jim Fritzley scored the Clin-
ton marker and, the
Mustangs tried in vain to
even the count but failed to
pull the goaltender until the
final terr seconds- and- the -
game ended 3-2.
In Walkerton last Sunday
the Stangs were held
scoreless for the first time in
a long time as Walkerton
scored twice in the first two
periods and the Stangs failed
to, put the puck in the net.
The Black Hawks outshot the
Mustangs 36-25 in the con-
test.

Township
council
seats filled
In this °year's :municipal .election, voters in
Goderich and Colborne Townships will not have to go
to the polls, unless they are voting for ,the Huron -
Perth Roman Catholic School Board trustee.
Both Michael Moriart , and Anne Steward have
announced their intention to run as the board's •
representative.
All of the other positions in both townships have
been filled by acclamation.
In Goderich Township the following were ac-
claimed, Grant Stirling, reeve; Jake Reeder, deputy
reeve; and Pat Osb'orn,L.E. Cox and John Rodges,
councillors. Joan- Van -Den Bi oeckwas-acclaimed as •-
_. tfieTioard of education trustee for both Goderich and
Colborne Townships.
Other Colborne Township acclamations were, J.
Russel Kernigh4n, reeve; William "Bill" Vanstone,
deputy -reeve; and Grant MaePhee, Doug Stoll and
Ross Pannabecker, councillors.
Since all the positions in Colborne Township (with
the exception of the Huron -Perth Roman • Catholic
School Board trustee) have been filled, there will only
be one poll. The poll will take place at Colborne
Township Community Hall, Carlow.
