Etue says the money was donated, "to be used Entrance sign too expensive Drawings prepared by Hill and Borgal for the sign to be erected at the entranceway to Goderich's Industrial Park were reviewed in detail by members of the Goderich Economic Development Committee when they met October 20. The estimated cost of the sign was $7,000 and commit- tee members felt this was too expensive since the re- maining amount in the budget is only $5,000. They instructed Commissioner of Works .Ken Hunter -- to prepare new drawings and contact the committee to review these in his office prior to erection of the sign. In other business, the com- mittee decided to recom- mend to council that Bili McGregor be allowed to farm a number of acres in the Industrial Park com- mencing in 1983 and that he should be given permission to remove some fencing in preparation for this at no cost to himself. The commit- tee will also recommend that in 1984, the Industrial Park landrshould be included with the lease for the airport land which McGregor will be tendering on at that time. Goderich Arts Fondation Chairman, Dorothy Wallace says, "there is now $32,637 in the bank which will be used to resume construction. All of the money has come from public donations and with this money, phase 1 should be completed." Completion of phase 1 will see an entire restoration of the exterior of the building, a new roof and beam supports, completion of the main assembly hall with seating for 200 and completion of the lobby and washrooms. Wallace says phase 2 will be funded by a Canada Community Development Program grant. This will porvide for a more elaborate stage, expansion of seating to 300, increased space for change rooms and greater storage area. Although construction is behind schedule, plans have already been made for the use of the theatre. In the winter the parking lot which is 'adjacent to the building will be flooded and •used as an outdoor skating rink and in .the spring a science circus from the Ontario Science Centre will take place inside the building. The science circus is being sponsored by the Business Improvement Association. Dorothy Wallace (left) accepts a $6,000 cheque on behalf of the Goderich Arts Foundation, from Reg Bell and Betty Etue of the Goderich Little Theatre. Due to wide support from the public construction .on the theatre will resume within the next few weeks. (Photo by T. Marr) World War II veteran dies at age 75 MAURICE A. McKEE Maurice A.
