The Goderich Signal-Star, 1982-10-27, Page 6PAGE 6 —GODERICH SIGNAL -STAR, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 27,1982 Taxpayer' time and cost monopolized by PM says writer Dear Editor, Wonder - boy has monopolized the taxpayers' time and cost the CBC 8100,000 in lost revenue to tell the taxpayers something they already know; that Canada has priced 'itself out of the world market. He has forgotten about the "Canada is strong" bit, and the bilingual appeal has grown sour.: Now he seems to be indirectly appealing to the Sally Ann, but I think they have enough to do without supporting the government. It seems that they, the Liberals, have discovered what the Beverly Hillbillies found: black gold, Texas tea, Vr whatever. The ad- irtisements now seem to say that we own Pierre's car or Petrocan. Pierre got his neck caught in the Can, and his Dome was going bankrupt, so they bailed it out. I trust that he's feeling much better now. The Texas Dallas oil saga has nothing on the story of Petrocan and Pierre' Dome saga. If they published the details, more than likely the story would make millions. He says he is going to wrestle inflation to the ground, but I think you'll find he will not work too hard at the wrestling bit, because a debt of approximately 27 billion dollars during an inflationary spiral is not going to bring much revenue to pay off that debt when prices and wages drop. This is why he has the 6 and 5 wage guidelines, and he's tapping the labor first. Sincerely, N.J. ( photo by Dave Sykes) Christians refuse Sunday celebration Dear Editor, - Unlike most places, which will be having Hallowe'en on Saturday this week, the town of Goderich will be . celebrating on Sunday. Per- sonally, we have yet to meet a Goderich citizen whois happy With this arrange- ment, but that, apparently, . is beside the point. Perhaps some townsfolk are unaware that last week a delegation of clergymen representing all of the chur- ches in Goderich approached the mayor to try to persuade the town council to change the 'date. They felt certain that the council Would listen to the voice of the majority of the townspeople. Their op- timism was dashed when they Were informed that Mr. 1a e.flce & Adeline Allin li Happy 35th Wedding =-I ANNIVERSARY MOM & DAD Congratulations From The Family, Love, Jan & Rob Larry, Pattie. During the year I was preparing the biography of Mr. Neill, it was disappoin- ting to learn of the poor at- tendance at the museum of the local townsfolk. We believe that all clergy have urged their congregations to do the same. Obviously the wishes of the citizens of Goderich do not carry much weight with the mayor and the members of the town council.
