As a new pastor, in
Goderich I want to take this
opportunity to express my
thanks to the Goderich
Ministerial Association and
to the (,dericlt. kigrlal-Star
for the privilege of writing in
this colwnn on occasion. We
have settled comfortably in-
to our beautiful surroun-
dings and are meeting the
friendly and happy .people of
Goderich; and we. count it.an
honour to serve here as a
minister of the Gospel.
rich pastor states his beliefs
MINISTER'S STUDY
I am glad today that I can
report up-to-date victory
through the blood of Jesus, I
am not ashamed of the
Gospel of Christ, for it is the
power of God unto salvation;
God is worthy of all praise
and glory that He ever
reached down for one so vile
as I, and lifted me out of the
awful depths of • 'quity. It is
all because of Cal ary that I
can testify that II ow I am
saved from all sill. Praise
the Lord! .
• It is not my duty to make
the Gospel acceptable; to the
world, but it is` my duty to
make it available; the Lord
called me to Goderich to
declare His truth, 'not to de-
fend it. 1 cheerfully proclaim
that true Christianity still
stands on the sure founda-
tions of the faith which was
once delivered unto us by the
apostles and prophets and by
the Lord Himself. I sincerely
and lovingly declare myself
an old-fashioned, fundamen-
tal Christian; one who • is
simple enough to believe
with all his heart the things
which compose the body of
this article.
I believe the Bible is the in -

Although adults met to
discuss many diverse and iri-
teresting subjects, the
highlight of the weekend was
the fii's,t International
Childrens Conference held at
the same time with the
theme' 'We are Baha'is'.
'Children from all over the
world considered together
the real meaning, of unity of
race, cultures and . religion.
They met and chatted with
Hand of the Cause Ruhiyyih
Khanum, who is a world

old, just returned from
journeys through Africa and
Asia.. She was the • first
Baha'i child in Canada and
met Abdullah .as a child of
three when he'was,a guest of
her parents in Montreal.
' - The children were visited
by artists and authors who
reminded them of the great
importance _ the . Baha'i
teachings place on science
and the arts. Perhaps Most
' important they experienced
first hand having fun
together and learning about
each other's countries,
schools, songs and games.
Also of great interest to the

The natives addressed both
the adult and children.con-

The children's conference
ended with all twelve hun-

fallible and inerrant word of
God. The early church har-
moniously accepted it as
such; ' ,'Christ and His
apostles fully accredited the
divine inspiration of the Old
Testament; and it wasn't un-
til the Church was fully 600
years old that anyone from
within its ranks ever ques-
tioned the validity of the
Scriptures. The Bible is the
Word of God as really as are
the "Ten Commandments"
which were written by God's
own finger.
I believe in miracles.
Jesus said, "Go and show
John again those things
which ye do hear and see.
The blind receive their sight,
and the lame walk, the
lepers are cleansed, the deaf
hear, the dead are raised
up..." Let the higher critics
throw their darts of doubt
and skepticism against the
Omnipotence of Christ; He
still stands erect 4n the
presence of the opposition,
and with a ,word, He calms
the storm.
I believe in the virgin bir-
th.' The conception of Jesus
was effected by the Holy
Spirit of God in the virgin
womb; and that which Mary
brought forth was spiritually
holy and pure. Without in-
herited sin, without moral
corruption or spiritual
defect, Jesus was the only
begotten Son of God. •
I believe .in the deity of
Jesus Christ, He was not a
created being, butis eternal-
ly one with the Father. He
was God in flesh; completely
God and completely man,
the God -Man: He existed -in .
eternity before the creation
in the unity of the triune God-
head, continues today, and
shall ever be the great God
of all the universe. •
I believe in the blood
atonement. Jesus was God's
perfect offering for the sins
of the human race; the
Lamb of God; God's ethical
sacrifice in His covenant
with mankind. Through that
holy sacrifice and through
that divine blood the price of
redemption wag' paid, and
you and I may be at one with
a just God -
I believe in the actual
resurrection and the bodily
ascension of Jesus Christ. '
Without these two ' things
there can be no Christianity.
If Christ is yet in the tomb,
then Christ is defeated and
the human race is doomed
and without hope. ' But .I
serve a RISEN Saviour; I
know He is living because He
is living in my heart right
now through the official
work of the Holy Spirit.
There was a time when I
BELIEVED in Jesus; but
I'm glad there finally came a
day when I became per-
sonally acquainted with
Him; I KNOW Whom I
HAVE believed!
I believe in actual
deliverance from sin. The
salvation which Jesus Christ
purchased by the shedding of
His blood involves the
forgiveness of sins commit-
ted and also the cleansing of
the carnal heart. When we
are saved, the guilt of com-
mitted sins is lifted and we
become new creatures
through Christ Jesus; this is
regeneration. Then when the
believer is sanctified his sin-
ful nature is eradicated and
the heart is cleansed by the
indwelling Holy Ghost.
I believe in holy living. "If
we say that we have
fellowship with Him, and
walk in darkness, we lie, and
do not the tell the truth...My
little children, these things
write I unto you, that ye sin
not...Whosoever abideth in.
Him sinneth not...He that
comrnitteth sin is of the
devil...Whosoever is born of
God doth not committ sin."
(selections from I John
chapters 1, 2, 3) The Bible is.
very clear concerning the
practical life of the believer;
it is above reproach, morally
perfect, and ethically pure.
The habits of the world and
the wicked indulgences of
the lusts of the flesh are for-
saken in repentance; the
Christian life is a life of.
holiness and righteousness
in true practice.
I believe in the eternal
destiny of mankind in either
heaven or hell. The human
soul will live on for eternity.
God has clearly 'warned us of
the punishments of damna-
tion; and' He, has specifically

invited each one of us into
the joys of His wonderful
heaven. The old truth still
stands, sinners are destined
for the fires of hell, and the
Lord's saints are promised a
glorious heaven.
I believe in the soon return
of Jesus Christ at which time
those who died in Christian
victory will be resurrected
from their graves and the
saints who are yet living on
earth will be snatched from
the world to meet the Lord in
the air. Following this will be
the Great Tribulation and "
then the thousand -year reign •
of Christ on earth; then at
the Great White Throne
Judgement we shall all stand
before the judgement seat of
Christ and every one of us
shall give account of himself
to God. Rm. 14:10, 12.
Thank you for your atten-
tion in these matters of
grave importance. Time and
space do not permit the
argument and proof of these
things; and argument, and
proof are not my desire.

am not ashamed to declare
