Seven schools sent com-
petitors to the Huron,Perth
tennis championship last
Friday .in Goderich. The
Goderich team, which lost
the championship to,
Stratford Central last year
for the first time in sig years,
regained the title this year
with a strong effort. The.
Goderich athletes compiled
20 team points to Central's 9.
Athletes from Seaforth,
Palmerston, Listowel,
Clinton and Stratford Nor-
thwestern,, also competed in
the one-iiay event.
In boy's doubles, Doug
Smith and Doug Ryan
defeated Todd Graham and
Andrew Cox in an all-
Goderich final. Both teams
had won two matches to earn
a berth in the final.
In girl's doubles, Helen
and Barb Conlon defeated
Kelly Brown and Theresa
Osborn in . another all-
Goderich final.
In girl's singles matches,
Mary Beth Alexander played
excellent tennis, winning
four matches to capture the
championship.
In boy's singles,- Peter
Conlon played superb tennis,

Sybold of Stratford Central.
In mixed doubles action,
Sharon Lomas and Joey
Morrissey won a match
while John Peters and
Natalie Sully won two
matches. Both teams were
beaten by the strong team of
Rob Vyge and Jennifer
Kemp of Stratford.
In other singles action,
Bob Barwick lost a close first
round match 8-5 and Carol
MacEwan, after winning her
first match, lost to Holly
wittig of Stratford.
Coach Bob Dick was ex-
tremely pleased with the
team's effort and very happy
to have GDCI regain the
Huron -Perth tennis cham-
pionship.
Cindy Dawn Gladden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter
Gladden and Alexander Arthur John Simpson, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Donald Simpson of Ashfield Township, were
married in Port of Holland Hall, Calgary, Alberta on
March 5. Mrs. June'Gladden, sister-in-law of the bride and
James Simpson, brother of the groom, were their atten-
dants. Mr. and Mrs. Simpson are now residing in Calgary.
New club formed
The newly organized
Goderich district After Five
Club which is sponsored by
the Christian Business and
Professional Women . and
affiliated with the Christian
Women's Club will hold their
first dessert and coffee on
Tuesday, September 28 at
7:30 p.m. in the Goderich
Township Community
Centre, Holmesville.
"Stepping Into Fall" is the
title of a shoe fashion review
to be presented by Rowland
Hill Footwear, Limited of
London. "A Lilt In Your
Step" ,will be VQea1.select ons
presented' by .. Rulilnri
Krestinski, soprano, of
Mississauga. "Steps With A
Purpose" is the title of an
inspirational talk given by
Mrs. Lottie Kelsall of
Mississauga. Mrs. Kelsall is
a frequent speaker for these
groups throughout Ontario.
She and her husband, John,
serve as Chairmen of the
Business and Professional
Couples' Club of Toronto,
where he is employed as an
executive with CP Railway.
Reservations for the
September 28 dessert and
coffee may be made by
phoning Irene Clark at 524=

8159. Any ladies or teenagers
of the area are' cordially
invited to attend. There will
be special tables for teens.
This club is part of an

with Canadian headquarters
in Willowdale and in-
ternational headquarters in
