On Monday, September 13, 29 men played in Men's Night. Bob Shrier came in with the lowest score, with Bill Brown coming in secone . and Jim Baird, third. Other ' winners were Fred Looker, Don MacEwan, Tom Jasper, Stan Paquette and John S inger„ Closest to the pin on Number 7 was Tom Jasper. On Ladies' Night, Tues- day, Septembers 14, 24 ladies teed off. The winners were: first flight, low net - Doris Paquette; putting - Maxine Martin; „ second Flight, low gross - Verna Kane; first low net - Ardith Brissette; put- ting - Joan McDougall; third flight, low gross and low net - Joyce Shack; putting - Marilyn Cornish; fourth flight, low gross - Mary La- paine; low net - Lyn Ed- ward; putting - Irla Stewart. Closest to the pin on second shot on Number 5 was Shelagh Sully. Championship Day, Satur- day, September 18, was win- dy and cool, with occasional sun for welcome warmth. The men teed off in the mor- ning, followed by the ladies with start times in the after - 'noon. After 18 holes of golf, everyone enjoyed a hot ham dinner with the added bonus of a spectacular sunset. The prizes were then awarded by the Sports Captains, Doris Paquette and Cewan Egener; -followed.-- by-im-r-- promptu music and dancing. (You'd have to see it to believe it -the talents these golfers have! ) The winners in the ladies' golf section were:. ladies' club championship -Della Bedard; runner -up -Doris Paquette; Rose Bowl trophy - Verna Kane; runner-up- Ardith Brissette; Maitland trophy -Maxie Huff; runner- up -Della Bedard; Mini Rose Bowl trophy -Lyn `Edward; runner -up -Joyce Shack. The ladies' Scotch Two - Ball trophy was donated and presented by Grace Neville to Mary Lapaine and Sheiagh Sully. Runners-up were Marie Huff and Marilyn Cornish. Each year a trophy and painting by Mrs. Bruce is presented to the golfer with the greatest reduction in handicap. This year it was won by Janet Gemmill, with presentation by Jean Knight, daughter of Mrs. Bruce. The only bir- die of the day was by Joan McDougall on Number 7. The Men's Golf Section winners were: overall club championship -Steve Durst; club championship, second flight -Dave 'Corn runners -up -Bob Shrier and Bob McDougall. The Kane Award for duction Of handicap by the m points was presented to Ste Durst by John Kane. Stev 's handicap went from five to two. The Ron Menzies Trophy for Seniors, for low net on nine holes,. went to Jack Gould. Seniors Champion- ship, low net on 18 holes, was won by Ross McDaniel. Scotch Two -Ball winners were the father-sdn team of Stan and Mike Paquette:, Runners-up were John Kane and Bill Hanly:_ Results ,of Championship Day were: first low gross with a score of 64Tony_. Cewan Egener was given a standing ovation as an ex- pression of appreciation for his fine work as Men's Sports Captain this year.
