Patricia •Denomme and
Jeffrey Baechler, both of
Goderich.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred
Denomme of Goderich and
the groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Con Baechler, also
of Goderich.
The Reverend Father A.F.

double -ring' ceremony.
Karen Melady sang The
Wedding Song with Don Cook
playing the guitar. Morning
Has Broken and All Good
Gifts were also played.
The .bride was given in
marriage by her father. She
wore a mid-calf length white
peau de soie dress edged in
lace and a wide -brimmed
white lace hat trimmed with
pearls with trailing chiffon.
She carried a cascade of pink
roses, stephanotis, white
orchids 'and white miniature
carnations. • -
Matron of honor was
Beverly. O'Brien, sister of
the bride, of Goderich. She
wore a pink dotted swiss full
skirted peasant style dress
with a white sash and a wide -
brimmed hat trimmed with
pink silk roses. She carried
white miniature carnations,
pink roses and baby's breath
lined with white lace dollies
and lace, streamers to
match.
Bridesmaids were Tammy
McAstocker of London and
'Sandy Hamilton and Debbie
Abbott, both of Goderich.
They were gorvaed the same
as the matron bf honor and
carried the same flowers.
Flowergirl was Danielle
O'Brien of Goderich, niece of
the bride. She wore a white
eyelet peasant dress with a
pink sash and :carried a
nosegay of pink sweetheart
roses and baby's breath.
.Groomsman was Dale
Baechler, brother of the
groom.
Guests were ushered into
the church by Tim Evans of
Stratford and Kevin Young
and Greg Beacom, both of
Goderich.
Ringbearer was Jeremy
Allis of Goderich, nephew of
the gvoom.
Following the wedding, a
reception was held at the
Candlelight Tavern,
Goderich.
The bride's mother
greeted guests wearing an
, off-white sheer polyester
dress with lace' inserts and
corsage of pink roses and,
baby's breath.
- The _ groom's mother
assisted wearing a concord
' grape chiffon two-piece
dress with a white orchid
corsage.
For a wedding trip to the
Pocono Mountains, Penn-
sylvania, the bride changed
to a white eyelet dress with a
red sash, red shoes and a red
and white silk corsage.
Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey
Baechler are residing in
Bramalea, Ontario.

The sick and visiting
report was given by Blanchie
Deeves. Charlotte Norman
did a reading, To All

Jean Lobb asked if any of
the seniors wish her to look
up anyone in their families
while she was in Northern
Ireland. She said she would
try to find out anything she
could. On thel last trip to
Ireland, she 11 found many
families from Goderich with
names such as Dempsey,
Webster, Semple and
Deeves.
Bert McCreath showed a
--slide-- -on --The----,Enduring_.
Wilderness. It was decided to
order more spoons at a later
date.
Everett thanked Irene
Cudmore for the years as
secretary. Shuffleboard was
enjoyed by many and lunch

Next meeting is Sep-
tember 23 when ladies will
bring sandwiches only for
lunch. Edward and Blanche
Deeves and Irene Cudmore
are in charge of. en-
tertainment and lunch.
Church news
Last Sunday morning's
worship service at
Holmesville United Church
was held at 9:45 in the
morning.
The Rev. Bechtel told of a
prank at Boy Scout Camp
where the Scouts were
recognized by a mark on the
clothing of one of the
members. Church members
are recognized, by others by
marks as Christians.
Jackie Norman sang The
Touch of God's Hand. The
theme of the minister's
sermon was Brotherhood in
Service.
John Wyatt and Ken
Harris received the offering.
Terry Fox Run
September 19 there will be
a Terry Fox Run registration
at the high school. Time for
registration 9:30 till 3 p.m.
This is a fun run to do at your
leisure. Please call Elaine
Townshend for information

Pledge sheets are at

the Sunday School children
of Holmesville United
Church walked in the event.

Holmesville H 4-H
On Sunday, August 29 at 2
p.m. the Fresh Air Freaks
went to Shelter Valley
Campgrounds.
When the girls arrived
there they put up the tent and
started a fire. They held
meetings . 4, and 5 which
meant making kites in the
rain and listening to music.
In the morning after bacon
and eggs, the girls tried to fly
their kites but there wasn't
enough wind.
The next meeting will be
Sunday, September 12 at
Linda's home.
Fair will host delegation
The 1982 Western Fair will
be subject to some close
scrutiny by a special delega-
tion from California.
The California. State
Legislature Joint Committee
on Fairs Allocation and
Classification, headed by
Senator Roy `Johnson, has
expressed a great deal of in-
terest in Canada's fairs and
is especially keen to study
.-several areas of the -Western --
Fair operation.
Senator Johnson will be on
hand .to officially open the
107th Western Fair on Fri-
day evening, September 10,
and he and his committee
will remain in London for the
weekend to take an in-depth
look at the fair.
A long-time supporter of
the fair industry, Johnson is
chairman of the committee
which oversees. California's
81 district, county and citrus
fruit fairs. His interest in
fairs and the carnival in-
dustry has led him to hold
several legislative hearings
on carnival regulations. He.
sees a need. for more'"fiscal
accountability" on the part
of fairs and carnivals,. and
during his visit the Western
Fair's revenue control pro-
cedures and other ideas will
be considered for use in
