Goderich to host Katimavik again
For the second con-
secutive year, Goderich has
been chosen as a host coin-
• triunity for K$imavik, the
- national yeah:pro-
gram. For those community
members not familiar with
the Katimavik program, it is
an independent, non-profit
corporation funded entirely
by the Secretary of State.
Into its sixth year of opera -
'tion Katimavik boasts an
enrolment of. 1600 young
adults in 150 projects across
Canada. The primary objec-,
tives of the program are to
provide opportunity for com-
munity service,, a chance to
discover Canada, foster an
awareness of.,lhe environ-
ment and promote personal
development
There were two such
groups of 11 participants
who arrived in Goderich Ju-
ly 14, 1882. This year one
groups' projects include a
continuation restoration
work at the Huron Historic
Jail and the Huron County
Museuni supervised respec-
tively by Harry Bosnell and
Raymond Scotchmer. The
second group will be spon-
sored by the Town of
Goderich,with projects at the
waterfront, Robertson
School, Bluewater Centre
and Arc Industries.
Each •group lives in
separate • housing accom-
modations with the accom-
paniment of one group
leader.: There will be three
successive groups of par-
ticipants for three months,
each for, the duration of the
four month project' in
Goderich..
Community integration is
an important element in the
Katithavik Piograiii;
Billeting each participant
with a receptive family for
two weeks has assisted in en-
couraging involvement in
community activities.
Billeting for this rotation
commences September 17, to
October 1. Anyone interesed
,in beinga billeting family is
:encouraged to phone either
group leader.
As well asworkskills and
community integration,

Bees' invade
at Huronview
This year's excitement at
Huronview occurred recent-
ly when bees swarmed on a
low limb of the old catalpa
tree behind normal care.
After three days, ar-
rangements were made with
Mr. Al Galbraith to come to
Huronview to capture the
unusually long bag -like for-
mation. Fortunately no ohe
was stung!
The Sunday morning
church service was held in
the new auditorium, with
Mrs. Elsie Henderson as
organist and choir leader.
• We welcome Reverend N.
Pick of Ontario St. Church in
Clinton, as our minister in
•the vacancy left by
Reverend Wittick, who has
moved to Listowel. Miss
Margaret McQueen, in a
lovely \voice, sang a solo,
"Jesus Is Coming Soon". An
anthem was given by the
choir.

was on Elijah's faith sur-
mounting his discourage-
ment. Elijah goes to Mount
Horeb to renew his life and
live in inspiration of Moses,
and the law, Faith and Food
which was Jesus' way of
renewal, as he said am
the Bread of Life". We look
forward to seeing Reverend
Pick again next Sunday.
On Monday afternoon
many residents enjoyed an
hour of "Music Apprecia-
tion", in the auditorium. A
highlight, for Tuesday was
the barbecue for first north
residents This was greatly
appreciated. On Wednesday
van rides were very popular
for the day. In the morning
several residents travelled
to Goderich and in the after-
noon other residents enjoyed
a drive to Stratford. They
especially were thrilled with
the view and beauty of the
Park, Avon River and the
swans. Another afternoon
trip was to Exeter, and to
Bellview Fruit Farm. These
van rides are very much en-
joyed by the residents - get-
ting out in the fresh air and
sunshine, viewing the
beautiful countryside, the
companionship. They wish to
say "Thank You" to all who
are responsible.
On Thursday afternoon, in
the chapel, the residents
were happy to listen to the
beautiful organ music
played by Mr. Stiles of
Goderich, who comes to play
for us once a month. We look
forward to this.
• We extend a very warm
welcome to a new resident -
Mrs. Rebecca Williamson, of
Goderich.
