World War II veteran dies at his residence at age 71

Archie McLean of 28
Hamilton Street, Apartment
1, Goderich, died SatiirdaY,
August 28 at his residence at
the age of 71.
He was born in Peterboro,
Ontario on .May 17, 1911 to
Archie and Susan (Mullen)
McLean.
The family lived in
Scotland during World War
I, then in Toronto
moving to Goderich in 1954.
with Sheaffer Pen Company.
The late Mr. McLean was a
set up man and then foreman
with Sheaffer Pen,
During World War II, lie
enlisted at Manning Pool,

Toronto and served overseas
in England and Germany as
a tall gamer with the RCAF
'With the, rank of P-0. He was
diseharged at Toronto. '
He was an adherent of- St.
Peter's Roman Catholic
Quirch, Goderich.
He married Bessie Pierce
in Weston on December 28,
1930. She predeceased him in
1963..
He was, also predeceased
by one daughter, Lenore and
one brother, Michael
McLean of Toronto.
He is survived by five
children, Bernard and
Archie McLean of Toronto,
Briane and Kevin McLean of
Montreal' and 'Mrs Barry
(Kerry Ann) Pitbladq of
Goderich; one sister, Mrs.
John (Elizabeth) Noble of
Toronto; one brother, David
McLean of Toronto; 12,
grandchildren; and one

A funeral service and
committal were held at.
Stiles Funeral Home,
Goderich on Wednesday,
September 1 at 2 p.m. The
Reverend Father A.F.
Loebach officiated.
Interment was in the
Maitland Cemetery.

Mrs. Yvonne Marie
Haggitt of R.R. 1 Auburn
died Sunday, August 29 at the
age of 24 as the result of an
accident. on Huron County
Road 25 near Carlow. ,
She wasborn in Goderich
on April 17, 1958 to Daniel
and Doreen (Orr) Willis. She
attended Colborne Public
School and Goderich District
Collegiate Institute and lived
in Benmiller until moving to
R.R. 1 Auburn following her
marriage to Steven R.
Haggitt on September 10,
1977 in Benmiller United
Church.
She was 'a member of St.
Mark's Anglican Church,
Auburn.
She is survived by her
husband; her parents; one
son, David James, 10
months; her grandmother,
Mrs. Bert (Florence) Willis
of Goderich; • her great-
grandmother, Mrs. Bert
(R) Qrr of Huromiew;
three sisters, Mrs. Paul
(Lynda) Chimney of R.R. 1
Aubinu. Mrs. Kevin (Janet)
Ruling of Goderich and
Connie,, at home; and four
Point Farms plans
brothers, John of Cen-
terville, N.B, Thomas of
Goderich and Ronald and
Deane!, both of Alberta.
A funeral service was held

Goderich on Highway 21,
