The California Cuties novelty softball team entertained an appreciative crowd at
Agriculture Park Wednesday in an exhibition game against the Goderich Firefighters.
While the players' dress was questionable it didn't hinder the five -man? squad from playing
an entertaining game. Proceeds from the event went towards a sound system for the

Champco gets into. playoffs
On Thursday night Garb and Gear
fielded a team but came up on the short
end of a 4-2 score against Carlow.
Series S saw Cobras edge Tickers 12-11
while Goderich Elevator dumped Local
1863 10-2. In what could be the crucial
game of the series, Goder: ' Elevators
blasted Tickers. 14-7. Tick k ave one
game left this week but it couic. tough to
secure four points in one game.
In series T the favoured Cedar Lodge
team edged the Renegades 16-13 while
Meneset defeated Champco 18-11.
As most readers are aware, the top two
teams from each series advance to the
second round of the playoffs. This round
features series Q against T and series R
• against S. In plain English (from a math
teacher?) it matches up the A division
teams .against the B division teams, in a
best of three series.
Tune in next week as 16 teams reduce to
eight M their quest for the GMSL cham-
pionship. •
BY BRUCE BAKER
For all you slowpitch fans who havebeen
on vacation, here is a rather important
update. Last week it was reported that
Bluewater defeated Champco 5-2 to take
sole possession of the final playoff position.
• That is true, but they did so with an
ineligible player and so the game and final
playoff berth was awarded to Champco.

In series Q this week, Coyotes pounded
the Optimists 24-13 but dropped a close 4-3
decision to Goderich Restaurant one night
later. The Bears, idle last week through a
schedule error, face three games this
-week. —
Series R got off to a poor start Monday
night as Garb and Gear, short of players
again, forfeited their game with the
Bulldogs. This didn't throw the Bulldogs
off stride though, as they dumped the Club
Grill Oldtimers 13-8 one night later.
