BRUSSELS - As in the post,
the third annual Brussels
Lions Club Tradesfem was
another great success,
raising $3,500. The money
will be put towards a,
proposed creative
playground.
Over 2,000 people attended
the three day event from
April 15 to April 17 and the
displays were said to be
better than ever.
Everything from Royal
Canadian Legion spoons to
Mary Kay cosmetics, grass
seed to antique cars were
shown at the event and the
young Leos food booth was a
popular spot. The Leos
received an estimated $2,000
ever the three days.

Goderich Township
Council met April 19 at the
site of the McGuffin Gully
erosion project to view
existing conditions and to
meet with the ratepayers
concerned and the
representatives of the
Maitland Valley Con-
servation Authority.
It 'was apparent that
further work should be done
in 1982 on the outlet of the
drain but the nature of the
work and the cost and how
that cost should be shared
was not decided. Council
decided to wait fora request
by the cottage owners'
association before in-
stigating anyfurther work.
A re-gular -meeting
followed the on-site, in-
spection. Mr. and Mrs.
Pounder were present to
requesta zone change on
their property, known as
Florbay, from rural
residential to commercial, in
order to set up a motel
recreation complex. Council
approved this request as
verbally presented.
M. Moriarty headed a
delegation at the meeting
which requested im-
provement to the road
between the fifth and sixth
concessions—suggesting that
certain hills could be cut
down, valleys built up and
bridges improved. No
-motions were recorded but
counciiagreed to inspect the
area while on their annual
road tour.
C.R. Kiar was present at
the meeting on two matters—
a severance „request for Mr.
Ormandy and the sub-
division agreement relative
to Rodi Investments. The
Ormandy request was dealt
with under the application
lor a severance request to
the Huron Land Division
Committee and council
moved that the application
be dealt with as per
questionaire. ' ' The sub-
division agreement was
discussed in .r detail with
council suggesting certain
changes. Kier agreed to the
changes subject to the ap-
proval of his clients,
Daugherty and Bondi.
R. Raymond of Marcel
Equipment was present to
explain the details whereby
his company would sell a
drag line to the township for
use in the township gravel
-pit. Considerable discussion
arose over the various points
to consider in a drag line and
the amount to spend on one.
It was later moved that the
clerk place an ad in the Daily
Commercial News whereby
any person or company with
a good used drag line for sale
might have a chance to
present his product to the
township.
A severance request of
Ron Reder required that a
pre -design must be prepared
and approved by the
township before Land
Division would deal with it.
Council approved the plan of
pre -design as prepared by
C.R. Kiar.
Tile drain loans were
requested by J. O'Brien for
lot 3, concession 1 at $9,625
and Walter Mcllwain for lot
11, concession 1 at $16,025.
Council passed a motion that
the loan applications be
approved,. sudject to the
availability\of funds.
Building permits were
issued to Gary Preszcator to
demolish a shed and build a
shed on lot 36, concession 16;
to the Goderich Cemetery
Board to remodel a house on
lot 4, Maitland Concession;
to William Elliott to remodel
a house on lot 108, Plan 13;
and to Mac Elliott to build a
sun porch on lot 32, con-
cession 12.
Building permits
requested by H.B. Whitely
for a mobile home on lot 14,
concession 7; by Lenus Yeo
for a house on lot 34, con-
cession 10; and by R.J.
Holley for a house on lots 29
and 30, Base Line were
approved but held pending
septic tank approval.
Accounts totalling more
than $8,000 were ordered
paid, by council. Of this
amount, $7,209.06 was for
road i uperintendent payroll.
