Fishing Season
Roy Bellinger, Con-
servation Officer for the
Ministry of Natural
Resources in Wingham,
reports that the fishing
season will open at 12:01
a.m. on April 24. He reports
that this time last year,they
had 602 fish checked at the
Fish Ladder, Port Albert.
This year they have checked
120 and Mr. Bellinger .at-
tributes the decrease in the
fish to the cold weather.
Officers will be on patrol
checking the many
fishermen who will be out.
Some officers will be in
uniform, others will look just
like the many fishermen who
will line the banks of the
Nine Mile River at Port
Albert. Roy Bellinger, when
queried as to what type of
persons the majority of
fishermen are, said in his 32
years as a Conservation Of-
ficer, he has found the ma-
jority of fishermen to be
very law abiding people.
