Goderich was elected presi-
dent at the seventh annual
spring rally of Senior
Citizens of Huron County on
April 7 in the Zurich arena.
There were 131 persons in at-
tendance at the rally.
Mrs. Mary Grigg of Clin-
ton headed the nominating
committee assisted by Mrs.
Hazel McNaughton and Mrs.
Bertha McGregor. Other of-
• ficers elected for 198244
were: past president -Nola
Love, Dashwood; first vice-
president -Mrs. Irene Davis,
Hensall; second vice-
president -Barrie Gandier,
Zurich; secretary -Irene
Johns, Exeter; assistant
secretary -Bertha McGregor,
Hensall; treasurer -John
Deeves, Goderich Township;
and •assistant treasurer -
Alex Hamilton, Grand Bend.
Harry Baker of Bayfield
installed the officers and
said that presidents of senior
clubs should look after phon-
ing shut-ins to make sure
they are all right.
Past president jewels were
presented to Mary Grigg,
Harry Baker and Nola Love.
All three were outstanding
presidents.
Mr. Blundell then made a
few remarks ,as the new
president. •

Reverend J. Dressler of St.
Peter's Lutheran Church.
Councillor Leroy Thiel '
welcomed everyone on
behalf of his village.
Reports were given by the
• Zone secretary and
• treasurer, along with the 14
presidents or secretaries
from each club present.
Reports showed that many
• varied programs were held
by the various clubs during
the year. These programs in-
cluded slides, visits to •
Huronview and neighbour-
ing clubs, speakers, ban-
quets, auction sales, bus
• trips, a spelling bee and
• bowling sessions. ••
Barrie Gandier then
played his piano-accordian
and a sing -song was led by
Gertrude Fleischauer.
Lunch was served followed
by a short executive meeting
with each club president at-
tending. Then Mrs. Irene
Davis of Hensall introduced
the guest speaker, Jack
• Lerette of U.S.C.O. in Toron-
to. He is 90 years of age and
proved to be a very witty
speaker.
Mr. Lerette said that the
senior citizens club zones
were formed in 1961 to work
out area problems for
seniors. In 1959, 54 groups of
seniors met in Toronto. Now
almost 1,100 clubs are
organized.
New club
formed
At the Huron 4-H Money
Management Club, mem-
bers can learn from
professionals about
budgeting, credit, and
keeping accounting records.
This new club will be led
by Reg Wilson, manager of
the Bank of . Montreal in
Clinton and Brian Miller,
Agricultural Economist.
Guest speakers will include a
chartered accountant, a
Farm" Credit Corptiration
representative and others.
• The organizational
meeting is planned for April
28 in the Clinton Agricultural
Office at 8 p.m. All young
people between 14 and 19
years of age as of January 1
are welcome. \Parents are
also invited to attend the .
meetings.
Cattlemen
meet
President Bill Coleman
chaired the meeting of the
Huron Cattlemen's Associa-
tion held on April 11.
Members enjoyed a roast
beef dinner prior to the
meeting. Secretary Rose
Marie Bishgs read the min-
utes of the last meeting
which were adopted.
Bill Coleman gave a report
of 'the County Development
meeting and Chester Strudy
reported on the Spring •
Dance. Mario Sheet reported •
on the curling bonspiel and
Glen Coutes gave a report of
the Huron Federation of
Agriculture's Members of
Parliament dinner held Feb-
ruary 27 in Clinton;
George Adams gave an
interesting report on the
Ontario Agriculture College
directors' meeting.
Plans for , a summer tour
were discussed with the Ot-
tawa area being suggested.
. A beef barbeque is plan-
. ned in Brussels with possible
dates being July 21 or
August 11. The Grey -Morris
' directors are in charge of this
