Goderich Legion Branch
109 announced this week that
a university scholarship is
now available to former
students of the Goderich
District Collegiate Institute.
This scholarship is the
AYM,T, ,: Sully .and.Branch..
109
RCL Lancaster scholar-
ship. It was made possible
from the interest on a
substantial donation from
the Sully Foundation to
branch 109. This donation
transferred the Lancaster
bomber from Legion Branch
109 to the Aircraft Heritage
Foundation at Mount Hope,
Ontario.
To be eligible to apply for
this scholarship, the student
must have completed Year
Five (Grade 13) at the
Goderich Collegiate and
have successfully completed
the first year of a degree in
engineering, medicine or
dentistry orhave completed
the second year of an honour
degree ` program at any
recognized university in
Canada.
Application forms for this
scholarship may be obtained
at the Guidance Office of the.
Goderich Collegiate or from
.the secretary " of. Goderich
Legion Branch 109.
This 'scholarship is valued
at a minimum of . $500 and
possibly.: •a substantially
greater amount and is to be
awarded by August 15 of
each year.
Former, students of the
Goderich Collegiate are to
note that thy, closing date for
applications is June 15.

starting at. Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital
under the co-ordination of
Connie Osborn. Volunteers
are needed for this service
which provides help for
dying patients.

more -about the service or
wanting to become a

of training sessions for,
AM&G staff and volunteers
will begin May 4 and will run
each Tuesday evening .until _.

The first Bearden is for all
people interested in knowing

care service. It will include
the film "The Last Days of
Living" from Royal Victoria'
Hospital in Montreal, the
first hospital to have such a
service. The guest speaker
will be Doreen Price, one of

Bob Schneider, a
children's • musician with a
special flare, will perform
here Monday, April 26 at 6:30
p.fn. • Tickets • are still
available from Family and
Children's Services which is
sponsoring the Schneider.

nesday evening, you would
have heard Schneider's
album, Listen to. the
Children, nominated for Best
Children's Album of the
Year.

Women's Day Out is in
need of new members as the
present membership is
dwindling. The group meets
each Wednesday morning
from 9:30-11 at the MacKay
Centre to listen to special
speakers, view demon-
strations and make new
acquaintances.. A small, fee
provides a bottomless cup of
coffee and a babysitting
service for the children. '
On April 28 the special
speaker at Women's Day Out
will be Sandy MacDonald, a
registered massage
therapist who will speak on
dealing with stress.

Philip McMillan's GDCI
drama students will be
selling silk carnations,
plastic carnations, fresh long
stemmed carnations and
miniature bouquets at the
Suneoastt Mall, around The
Sqaure and at the Brewer's
Retail store. All proceeds
will go toward multiple
sclerosis research.
