McNeil dines with Queen at
Glen McNeil, 28, and his
wife Vanda of R.R. 6
Goderich were guests last
week at the celebrations in
Ottawa (luring the Queen's
visit.
Glen was one of 282 young
people chosen from federal
ridings across Canada flown
to the capital to attend the
Constitution presentation
and Young Achievers
banquet. Each achiever was
between the ages of 18-35 and
was chosen for their con-
tribution in different areas,
Glen's being agriculture.
Glen, who represented
Huron -Bruce, is one of the 4-
H leaders of the Dungannon
Calf Club and former leader
of the 4-H club leaders
association. He also serves
as a member for the Huron
County Holstein Club
selection for the champion
show at LondlSi Fair. A
former president of the
Huron County Junior Far-
mers, he is now involved in
reading pedigrees at Car-
son's Sales Arena at Listowel
and is an aspiring judge in
western Ontario for the
Holstein-Fresian
Association. The all -
Canadian two-year-old
Holstein for 1981 was bred at
Glen's Heather -ROM fare
Glen received the Holstein-
Fresian Association
Distinguished Achievement
Award and travelled to
Madison, Wi::consin to the
World Dairy Expo last year.
Glen and his wife flew
from London to Ottawa last
Thursday evening ` where
they were met by MP
Murray Cardiff and his wife
Betty who took them out to
supper. They stayed at the
Holiday Inn. Friday morning
they went to Cardiff's office
where they were briefed on
the day's schedule: On
Friday at 5:30 p.m. they met
the other Young Achievers
who were chosen to attend
this event at the Art Centre.
About 500 of them then
assembled in the dining'
room for dinner.
On Saturday Glen and
Vanda attended the actual
signing of the Constitution on
Parliament Hill and were
able to be close to where the
Queen mingled with the
crowd. They met .many
people and enjoyed the
friendly feeling that seemed

The fifth meeting of the
Tiger Dunlop "Dough
Heads" was held at Mrs.
Ruth Ann Strickler's home
on Wednesday, April 14.
President' Kathy
Schoemaker opened the
meeting" with all members
present repeating the 4-H
pledge.
The baking which was to
be done at the fifth meeting
will be carried over to, the
seventh meeting because
„three members were unable
to attend.
The roll call which was
"What is your favorite sweet
yeast bread and do you make
it or buy it?" was answered
by all members present.
Some answers included
raisin ,bread and cinammon
rolls and most said their
favorite breads were
boughten not made.
The meeting continued
with a discussion on butter,
glazing, how to protect the
gluten network, the non pre-
heat' method of baking,
spread and bread rating, loaf
shape and factors considered
when judging bread in -
Canadian writers honored
during National Boob Week
Come celebrate! National
Book Festival is a week of
events planned to promote
Canadian writing and
publishing. This year, ac-
tivities
ctivities are planned from
April 26 to May 2.
The Huron County Public
Library is celebrating the
National Book Festival with -7
two contestsfor the children
in this area. The children. in
the six village branch
libraries: Bayfield, Blyth,
Brussels, Hensel', KirlOon
and Zurich, can participate
in the second annual drawing
contest.
For the five town libraries,
the children aged 7 to 9, can
enter the drawine contest

Mrs. Reg Riehl and
granddaughter Nicole have
returned home from a nine
day holiday visiting with Mr.
and Mrs. Ben Riehl and
family in Moncton, New
Brunswick. They also visited
Prince Edward Island. The
weather was fairly mild but
there was still a lot of snow,
especially on the Island.
Terence Hunter is a
patient in Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital and is
convalescing favorably. He
hopes to be home soon. His
many friends wish him a
speedy recovery.
