home for the long weekend.

two sisters from Toronto and
Goderich and a nephew and
his wife from Webwood.near
Espanola. Roberta is an aunt
of Mrs. Maxine Maize.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Cul-
bert, daughter Lynn and
grandchildren, Heather and
Robbie Ohm motored to Lon-
don on Sunday to visit with
their ,granddaughter,' Trish
Ohm who has been a patient
in War Memorial Hospital
since March 29. She had her
surgery on April 2 and
should be home sometime
this week.

mother, Mrs. Ethel Sallows.

UCW white elephant auction success
The Irish Unit of the
Benmiller United Church
UCW held a very successful
white elephant auction on
Tuesday, April 6. Over 65
ladies were welcomed to the
auction by Mrs. Phyllis
Feagan.
The auction started shortly
after 1:30 p.m. with auc-
tioneers Barb Walter,
Adelaide Feagan, Marg
Jewell, Evelyn Treble and
Florence Maskell taking
turns and keeping their
helpers, Joan MacPhee,
Eleanor Fisher and Marlene
Baer and the treasurers for
the afternoon, .Blanche Kerr
and Evelyn Treble, all very
busy.
During the auction, there
was a pause for some
delicious pie and tea served
by several of the younger
women of the Unit who also
helped in the kitchen.
The Unit ladies were well
pleased with the result of the
auction -and thank all for
their support and help.
Card Party
There were ten tables of
euchre in play at the card
party held. in Colborne
Township Hall, Carlow, on
Thursday, Apri1.8. --
Winners were: gents -high
score -Adeline Allin (playing.
as a man), low. score -
Leonard Fisher; ladies -high
score -Iva Etzler, low score -
Olive Shields.
The next card party will be
Thursday, April 22 at 8 p.m.

Wilkins have found the nam-
es of the owenrs of the land
in the Western division of
Ashfield from the registry
office in Goderich now. Their
work on the history book is
proceeding. •
Mrs. 'Charles (Mayme)
Wilkins has a little green-
house this year and now the
family are enjoying radishes
and lettuce. Now this is
really getting into things
early. Good luck, Mayme.
Sympathy is extended to
the family of the late Orland
Richards of. Lucknow and
formerly of this community.
He was predeceased by his
wife, the former Clara Mac-
Donald and he is survived by
