HCFA fieldman promoted Huron County Federation of Agriculture fieldman Bill Crawford is being promoted to the Ontario Federation of Agriculture in Toronto as director of Insurance and manager of Insurance and Administration Services. Mr. Crawford has been the fieldman for the HCFA since 1972. Blane Stephenson is his replacement. The HCFA hel4. a surprise farewell dance for Bill and Eleanor Crawford on Satur- day, March 27 at the White Carnation in Holmesville. Ninety-five people attended. HCFA president Gerry For- tune noted in a presentation that Mr. Crawford was the first fieldman hired by OFA. He served with six of the Huron County presidents. He was heavily involved in membership. He helped to create a lot of new member- ships over the years which helped to make Huron Coun- ty the largest membership of Ontario. Fran McQuail, Chair- woman of HCFA's Public Relations Committee and Tony McQuail, first vice- president of HCFA, presented Mr. Crawford with an inkP rint of the Huron- Tract. Mr. Crawford's wife, Eleanor, received a stained glass trinket box. At one time, Mrs. Crawford provided an answering service when the Clinton office was not staff- ed. Mr. Crawford has lived in Huron County since 1967. Before his involvement with the federation, he was an agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance. Mr. Crawford is still living in the, area but at the end of the school year, he will be moving. Mr. Crawford says, "My new job will be a real challenge.", It will involve public relations and explain- ing insurance to members, as well as administration. Over and above the in- surance, he will be responsi- ble for all memberships in OFA .and recording it in a computer. Dough Boys meet The fourth meeting of the Kingsbridge Dough Boys was, held on March 30 at Mrs. Van Osch's. Everyo.le• answered the roll call which was to comment on the suc- cess or the problems in mak- ing bread. Members talked about supplements in baking and also discussed batter breads and flour power. For the next meeting, the girls are to decide what bread they will make for the party. Everyone then enjoyed tasting the Zuni. Cornbread and whole wheat English muffins. The meeting ' was closed with the 4-H motto. Falls kill hundreds An average of 720 people die each year in Canada from accidental falls in the home: Thousands* are in- jured, many seriously. While reporting the data, the Canada Safety Council gives the following tips to reduce the risks of falls in the, home during the summer season. • - Arrange your furniture so that it won't interfere with the normal traffic pattern in your home. - Avoid carrying loads that are too cumbersome and that block your vision.. . - Keep floors clear of clut- ter and P 'wipe upspilled P li- quids. - Repair loose flooring and uneven floor surfaces. Place non-skid pad under scatter and throw rugs; down • tack g turned up edges of carpeting. - -.
