the GDCI Teacher No. 1 team who
rebounded from their tough loss to the
GDCI Vikings with wins over the AM & G
Hospital No. 1 team and Local 1863. The
fivesome of Del .Ahneida, Carl Ziebarth,
Bill Worsell, Doug Bundy and' George
Sutton also received the Charlie Crawford
Most Improved Team Award as they
moved from a !tenth place finish last Year
t claim third place prize money in 1982. ,
True to form in a league that was so
"tied" up at the end of regular season play
and that experienced five extra -end games
in the championship bonspiel the final
"big" money spot of fourth place ended in
a dead heat tie also. The AM & G "GC''s"
shared this honour with the Huron Health
Unit. The HHU group consisted of Shirley
"Pockets" Fisher, Laurie Pacquette, Lin-
da Bell, John Orr and Jack MacKinnon.
Both teams were forced into extra -ends to
claim their victories and both ended with
identical point totals. It is to the league's
credit that even after a long season and
tough day of curling that every team still
gave everything, right to the final second of
1981-82 curling.
The winners of the Trans Canada Credit
Trophy for the "B" Division of Industrial
League Curling were the better half of the
Forester organization - the Lady
Foresters. This excellent group consisted
of Heather Young, ElearSor Fisher, Vicki
Culbert and skip Bernice Moore. It is
worth noting that five of the champion
Foresters team's eight members are
female. Curling is certainly a great
equalizer and more than a few male egos
were shattered by the feminine skills and
tactics of the Lady Foresters this season.
It was obvious from the very first end of
competition that these four ladies had
come to play as they scored big against the
Victoria and Grey unit. Everything they
attempted , they succeeded at and they
even succeeded sometimes at things that
nobody even dreamed of. V & G skip Bruce '
Erskine shook his head in astonishment
more than _once duringtheir. opening con
test against this fearsome female four-
some. As always, however, the V &G team
of Fisher, Teichert, Hamilton, Kelly and
Erskine plus their cheering section showed
why they are considered the Most Sport-
smanlike Team in a league of good sports.
• The second challenge for the eventual
champions was the Champion Sales Office
who had already upset the pre -spiel
favourite Maitland Golfers 6 to 5 in a real
nail biter. The Sales people included Jo-
anne Lucas, Wayne Lucas, Bill Hayward
and Pete Wanner but the Lady Foresters
weren't buying. Although the Ladies gave
AM & G wins
bonspiel
This year the Battle of the
Sexes Bonspiel opened its
' doors to all curling divisions
at the. Maitland Country
Club. It was held Sunday,
March 28.
Each division was invited
to enter its top team to
compete for the unique
Worsell Broom. It made for a
day of Silver Broom type
curling and a lot of good fun.
The Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital, team
representing the Industrial
League won the event. Team
members were: skip -Dr.
Jim Rourke, vice -Craig
Cass, second -Elmer Taylor
and lead -Richard Worsell.
Second place went to the
team -representing the
Friday Mixed Curling
League. Team members
were: skip -Don Edwards,
vice -Lynn Edwards, -second-
Roger Bois and lead -Elaine
Bois.
In _third place was the
team representing the
Tuesday Night Mixed
Curling League: Team
members were: skip -John
MacKinnon, vice -Nancy
MacKinnon, second-Wa l
Lucas and lead -Jo -Anne
Lucas.

7 to 2 win.
Game three for the money however, was
a different story. The Elementary
Teachers in all their masculine grandeur
stood in the Lady Foresters' way and
showed no inclination to step aside. Each
end played was a .battle, each point taken a
difficult one, and each great shot equalled
or bettered by another. The four teacher
reps of Murray Dietrich, Don Budnark,
Ron Ritchie and Doug Yeo wanted respect.
"We are not easy" stated racy ,Roe_ Rit-
chie. In the end, however, it .was the
powerful combination of style, grace,
determination and talent that allowed the
Lady.For.estets to claim a well -deserved -6
to 4 victory. Congratulations Ladies!
Third prize fell into the hands of the
GDCI Teacher No, 2 foursome of Chris.
Connor, Shelley Warr, 'Dave Cloet and Bill
Garrow. Great curling by Sifto Salt skip
Jerry Riseborough had eliminated the
teachers' hope of claiming top spot in their
opening match but they bounced back to
defeat the "Silver Brooms" of the cham-
pion Office and the very fashionable and
skillful Maitland Golfers to claim third
spot,
Fourth place went to the Champion Of-
Darren Creamer, scored the second of Goderich's two, goals from behind the net during the.
first game in the best -of -five series for the OMHA championship here Saturday night bet-
ween the Lakeport Steel Bantam Bs and Richmond Hill. Goderich lost 7-2 and will meet

last major prize of the day. Steve Huff,
Paul Mulligan, Monica Page and Barry
Page saved their best game of the year for
the last game of the year and ended a
much improved season in style.
So another great year of Industrial Curl-
ing ended with a day packed with excite-
ment, pathos{ disappointment, surprises,
triumph and humour. To all the winners go
my congratulations! That means everyone
because the word loser just does not fit any
of the 16 teams of the Goderich Industrial
League.
