Easter Bunny makes early
appearance at Huronview
On Friday afternoon the
Easter Bunny made his
appearance at Huronview a
little early this year. In fact,
there were two bunnies and
these little guys Mike Ladd
and Curtis McComb dressed
in black bunny outfits kept
all in the mood as they
hippity-hopped around the
room. Incidentally, did you
know that one of our own,
residents Gertrude Cornell
during her fabulous career
as a fashion designer created
the Easter Bunny costume?
She was a very talented lady.
The new auditorium was
festively decorated in ap-
propriate theme for_ e
event. To begin with ere
was a parade of hats and.
there were hats galore
ranging from the most
creative to the silliest and
imaginations went wild. The
residents with some help
from staff either made their
own hats from scratch or
simply decorated them.
There was such an assort-
ment of chapeaus it was
difficult to judge however
Josie Cunningham won first,

prize as havikg the most
original and Roy Maize was
second wearing the silliest.
Amid laughter applause
and yes, even whistles, the
beauty contestants made
their appearance. This was a
show in itself and those
taking part were Les Oliver,
Ernie Appleton„ Clayton
Steels, Irwin Trewartha and
Louis Wild. To the tunes of
Easter Parade and a Pretty
Girl Is Like a Melody played
by Frank Bissett, the models
walked around the room
while they were judged.
Ernie Appleton was chosen
the winner. The ladies in the
sewing room deserve much
credit for the fashionable
gowns worn by the "girls".
Mary Gibbings introduced
the numbers on the. program.
A vocal group consisting of
Lisa Telford, Kathy Ladd,
Cindy Renner, Tracey
Harman, Susie Tideswell
and Crissy Welch sang ac-
companied on the piano by
Bonnie Jewitt. Cheryl
Bromley in fine style did a
clever step dance routine.
Mabel Garrow, one of the
residents, is Cheryl's
grandmother. Mabel Scott,
another of Huronview's
talented ladies, pleased
everyone with° a humorous
reading. Scott Jewitt, who
has a splendid young voice
delighted the audience as he
sang, accompanied by his
mother and Bonnie. Two
piano solos very nicely
played by Laurie Jewitt and
Kathy, Crissy, Lisa and
Cindy playing' the ukulele, ..
sang two popular numbers, I
believe in Music and Just
One Song..
To conclude the program
all the girls sang a recent
Anne Murray hit.
On Saturday evening,
there was an exciting game
of hockey in Clinton Arena.
Team 10 the crew and
executive from Channel 10
London played the Clinton
Minor Hockey Coaches, and
in spite of everything, the
game ended in an 8 - 8 tie.
The proceeds from this event
go to the Clinton Minor
Hockey. Mrs. Janet Zaphe,;
one resident, and an avid fan
who with her daughter Marj
and family attended ' the
game. Janet says it wad. a
real thrill.
The early part of the week
was a . little quiete than
usual and gave all a chance
to catch ','our breath. On,
Sunday morning the
residents had the priviledge
of hearing Reverend Robert
Scott of Londesboro deliver
the sermon.
'On Wednesday afternoon,.
Verda Baechler and Mary
McAllister, Ruth Orr, Mabel
Jeffrey, Josie Cunningham
.and.Mary Ross spent a busy
time as they peeled apples
and more apples, getting
thele ready for the pies to be
baked. '

Amy Kent was only one of hundreds who bought daffodils in
Goderich last week. Members of the Beta Sigma Phi
Sorority sold 15,000 of the blooms to raise money for the
Canadian Cancer Society and kick off the April fund raising
campaign. Here, Mary Forrest and Sheila Stanley of the
Sorority pick out a pretty bouquet for Amy who made her
purchase at the Suncoast Mall. (Photo by Joanne
