Golden Gate Club
ve gifts to those
less fortunate
• On Wednesday, December
10, 90 seniorS from die
Golden Gate Club sat down
to a delicious turkey supper
served by St George's
Anglican Church ladies in
their church hall,
At the conclusion of the
- Meal, everyone went over to
the Malay Centre for the
Christmas meeting where
Art Young led a carol sing.
•The members had
OrectiOnsiy decided to
celebrate this OCCISkoff in a
meaningful way, and instead
of having the usual exchange
of gifts, they would give their
gifts to others less fortunate
than themselves,
With this m mind, Presi-
dent Barbara MeWhinnie in
-
traduced the guests for the
evening, Salvation Army
Captain ifl, members of
the local Corps Band, and
children's choir, who enter-
tained with Christmas
music The program con-
cluded with the reading of
the Christmas story and
prayer offered by Cant Will.
Myrtle Johnstone, prii,
gram convener, thanked the
guests and presented them
with $142 to be used by the
Army this Christmastime
for the needy locally,
In accepting the gift, Capt
Will said that this Christmas
was particularly difficult for
many families in the area
and contributions such as
this one would surely help in
bringing happiness to some
of them.
In wishing each other a
Merry Christmas, all agreed
that a very worthwhile time
had been spent-
