Fewer hunters applied to hunt in 1981 than 1980, however early in- dications are that about one out of every five hunters was succezafuL An estimated 184 deer were harvested, compared to 103 in 1980. The conditon of the deer was excellent. Information thin the deer check stations indicates excellent antler growth on the bucks as well as heavy on, deposits on all deer. Over 60 per cent of the deer checked were fawns or yearlings which reflects the relatively easy winters deer have enjoyed the past 'two winters. Very few complaints relating to the deer hunt were received by the Ministry of Natural Resources and only tw'o minor charges were laid by • Ministry Conservation Officers. All hunters are reminded that they must have com- pleted and returned their mandatory report form to the Ministry of Natural Resources by November 17. This applies to everyone who received a validation sticker, whether they hunted or not. Failure ti; do so could make the hunter ineligible for future hunts as well as result in charges being laid. The Ministry of Natural Resources would like to thank all hunters who cooperated by making deer available at the check stations for biological examinations.
