Silver Brooms start off right
November 12 was a full
moon, a fitting night for the
town's lunatic curling league
to begin. The seventh season
of the Goderich Industrial
Curling League started as
always with surprises.

Foresters are in the cellar!
The Toronto Argonauts .of
last season (1-16), the Silver
Brooms have obviously
made some sweeping
changes in their attitude.
Karen Gilchrist, Jennifer
Matthews, Paul. Mulligan
and Barry Page showed none
of usual kindness as they
heartlessly hammered the
Elementary Teachers 94.
The troubled teachers
clearly missed the motherly
influence of Dianne Budnark
who was busy mothering the
newest Budnark, Sarah
Jane, at home.
Congratulation Silver
Brooms and Don and
Dianne!
Local 1863 handed last
year's champions a rude
welcome to the new season
by defeating them 6.5. The
Foresters got fine efforts
from the feminine half of
their unit as Barb Hawkins
and Raye Ribey rarely
missed, But the all-male
union team curled
flawlessly.
Vicaskip Glen Falkiner
was particularly sharp. "It
is unlikely that the Foresters
will remain In their lowly
and unfamiliar position for
long," was the official
Forrester comment. We'll
see.

the Foresters last year when
Cam Bogie made his now
legendary 'fertilizer' shot.
The 1981-82 teachers
looked very impressive as
they overpowered the Huron
Health Unit 8-5. Teacher
`Garrow and Cloet both ap-
peared to have their draw
weight down pat while their
opponents seemed just a
little rusty on this first' night
of competition.
'Kluges controls Vikings
Unlike their teachers, the
GDCI Vikings did not taste
victory". Ron Klages, and the
AM&G 'GCs' saw to that.
'Cages, now knows as 'Mr.
Big' around the club, was
dearly in control throughout
the contest while his new
hospital teammate, Marty
Bond showed his talent also.
Diane Bogie added a touch
of class and a great deal of
skill to the losing Viking
effort. Unlikt‘another Bogie
in the league, Diane has real
potential.

first place. Behind the fine
leadership of Sue White, the

Lady Foresters 8-7 in an
exciting extra -end contest.
Both teams had excellent
early season form as the lead
flip-flopped throughout the
match. Forester skip Ber-

Phyllis Fisher both tried
hard to begin the season with
a win but it was not in the
stars.
