Juveniles skate off with 7.5 victory
The Goderich Signal -Star Juveniles
emerged the 7-5 winners on Sunday af-
ternoon over Mount Bridges from a game
that featured 104 minutes in penalties.
The penalty calls came out in Goderich's
advantage most of the time and the locals
took a 4-2 lead by the end of the first
Bantams
shut out
Parkhill
The Goderich Bantams had two losses
and a win last week in Shamrock Hockey
League action. November 11, the locals
were edged in St. Marys 7-6, on Friday
they won in Parkhill 2-0, and Kincardine
visited on Sunday and won 4-1.
St. Marys scored a goal in the last
minute of the game last Wednesday to
break a 6-6 tie and vAn. Previous to that
goal, Goderich had scored twice to tie up
the game.
At the end of the first period it was 5-1 for
St. Marys with the local goal being scored
by Todd Graham. In the third period,
Goderich scored five times. Trevor Erb
and Rob Gibbons each got two and Ken
Huff scored once.
The defence was more on the ball
Friday, however, as goaltenders Rob
Dunn and Todd Wilson recorded a shutout
in Parkhill. The two Goderich goals were
notched by Kevin Talbot from Chris
Sideris and Todd Graham, and by John
Graham unassisted. -
Saturday, Kincardine was here and took
the 4-1 win home with them. Goderich's
lone goal was netted by Matt Wilkinson on
a play set up by Todd Graham.

scoring on a play set up by Del Bedard and
Rick Anderson.
Exactly one minute later, Steve Sager
scored on an unassisted effort. Barely 30
seconds later, ft was Tom Smith who hit
the net for his second goal. The fourth
Goderich goal came from the stick of
Larry Kelly assisted by Kent Tigert.
The two Mount Bridges goals came in
the last two minutes of the first period.
The Juveniles scored three unanswered
goals in the second to take a commanding
7-2 lead. Darrell Graham. and Steve Sager
each scored on unassisted plays and Jim
Young scored from Alan Bakker.
In the third period, despite numerous
penalties, Mount Bridges came back to
score three times to make it 7-5, but it
wasn't enough as goalie Dan Roes held on
for the win.
The Juveniles play on Sunday in Dor-
chester.

Sailors continue on losing track
The Goderkh Sailors continue to have
difficulties in recording wins this season,
as they fell to defeat twice this week, to
Wingham Friday night 5-2 and in
Southampton Sunday 11-5.
Wingham opened the scoring at the 3:09
mark of the first period on a goal by Ron
Bennett. At 7:33 and 14:07, the visitors
notched power play goals to take a 3-0 lead.
Before the end of the first period, the
Sailors managed a power play goal of their
own from Randy Stoddart on a play set up
by Brian Moody. After a second period
goal by the Royals, Goderich netted their
second and final goal at 6:44 of the third
period from Dirk Walterbeek on another
set-up by Brian Moody to make it 4-2.
The last Wingham goal was an empty
net effort.
Southampton avenged an earlier season

Sailor Win on Sunday by defeating the
locals 11-5 on Southampton ice.
The home team took a 5-2 lead in the first
period with Goderich goals being scored
by Larry -Gaynor from Graham Hamilton,
and Ian Fowles from Gaynor.
The Sailors scored one in the second
from Brian Moody, and in the third period, ,,
Gaynor got his third point of the night on a
play set up by Dale Duncan. Duncan
notched the last Sailor goal of the af-
ternoon.
Mike Reynolds played net for the Sailors
in Southampton while Percy Bedard
handled goaltending duties on Friday
night.
The Sailors play host to the Harriston
Blues on Friday night at 8: 30 then travel to
Harriston Sunday for a 2:00 game,
Midgets tie St. Marys 3=3

The Goderich Midgets tied St. Marys 3 - 3
in a Shamrock League hockey game last
Wednesday in St. Marys.
Goderich opened up a 2 - 0 first period
lead on goals by Peter Stahl, assisted by
Jeff Feagan, and Mark Crawford, assisted
by David Gallow and Paul McCartney. St.
Marys got one back, off the stick of Doug
Larnond before theperiod ended.
St. Marys continued to press in the
second period, scoring two more unan-
swered goals to surge into a 3 - 2 lead. Gary
Heamen was the marksman on both oc-
.. casions.
Phil Wood's slapshot tied the score with
only 15 seconds left in the period. Peter
Stahl picked up an assist on- Wood's
marker.
The teams battled through a scoreless
third period.
Referees Bob Young and Bob Walters
called a total 01 15 minor penalties, with
the home team getting nine of them.
Last Monday in Lucknow, the local
midgets went on a scoring spree in an
exhibition encounter with the Luelmow
"DD" Midgets.
Goderith came out on the long end of a 10
-0 score. Goalies Randy Gaynor and Terry
Bean shared the shutout for Goderich.
Scott Stoll, David Gallow and John
Thompson were all two -goal scorers for
Goderich.
Mark Crawford had a goal and four
assists.
Andrew Telford, Keith Hallam and
Daryl Madge scored the other Goderich
goals.
Making the score sheet in the assist
column were Doug Smith, Ray Vanatone,
and Lee Frisby. John Thompson had three
assists to go with his goal. Phil Wood also
had one assist.
Winning streak snapped
The Goderich Lions Pee Wees had their
five game win streak snapped last
Saturday as St. Marys downed the Lions 6-
3.
St Marys started fast by scoring with
just two minutes gone in the game. Before
the first period had ended, they scored a
power play goal to lead 2-0.
Goderich got on: the board early in the
second period on a power play as Shawn
Larder scored on a hard shot from the left
circle with Bill Trebish and Bryon
Bowman assisting.
Less than a minute later however, the
opposition made it 3-1. At 5:56, Scott
Garrow made it 3-2 as he scored an
unassisted breakaway goal. But once
again, St. Marys followed up with a goal to
restoretheir two -goal advantage.
In the third period Mark Cauchi scored
after taking a pass from David Brown to
narrow the gap once more, but St. Marys
followed with two unanswered goals to
clinch Ole win.
Next league action for the Lions will be
at home this Sunday at 2:30 against
Parkhill.
Atoms play bad game
The Goderich Machinist Atoms had their
worst game of the season on Saturday
when they were trounced 13-4 by , a
powerful St. Marys squad in St. Marys
during Shamrock League play.
St. Marys got a quick four goal lead in
the first period. Although the Goderich
team had numerous shots on net, the St.
Marys netminder stopped them all.
Andre Ca uchi finally put Goderich on the
scoreboard with an unassisted goal at the
beginning of the second period. St. Marys
got two more goals in the second period
however before Goderich got on the
scoreboard a second time with an
unassisted goal by Greg Alcock.
In, the third period, St _Marys scored
seven times while Goderich scored only
twice with goals by Tim Harrison assisted
by Jeff Boyce and Andre Cauchi and Andre
Cauchi assisted by Greg Alcock and Gregg
DeWinter.
The Goderich Machinist Atoms stan-
dings to date are: four wins, three losses
and no ties.
Pee Wee Bstsplit pair on weekend

On Wednesday, the team travelled to Goderich hosted Seaforth on Saturday

Novices sandwich a win.
The Goderich Novices had games
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this week
and managed one win sandwiched between
two losses. Friday they visited Parkhill
and lost 6-2, Saturday they won in St.
Marys 372, and Sunday they were hosted by
Exeter and lost 4-2.
In Parkhill, ft was 2-2 at the end of the
second period on Goderich goals by
Jeremy Osborn assisted by Ian Bowman,
and Bowman got one unassisted. Parkhill
turned on the power in the third period to
score four unanswered goals and win the
game.
In St. Marys, there was a2-2 tie with four
minutes left in the game wheri Mark
Armstrong hitthe net for the locals an a
play set up by Ian Bowman and Aaron
Duckworth to win it The other two goals
were scored by Ryan Fagan, both
unassisted.
Goaltending duties were shared by Mark
Kinihan and Cris Erb.
And to finish off a long weekend on the
road, the boys visited Exeter on Sunday.
Only one goal was notched before the third
period and it was by Exeter to take a 1-0
lead.
Then Goderich scored two goals to take
the lead. Both of them were scored by
Mark Armstrong and assisted by Jason
Cook. But the locals gave up the lead to
Exeter who scored three consecutive goals
to wrap up the victory.
