Women's group offers assistance to family victimize + by fire
Nile U.C.W. meeting was
held at the home of Mrs.
Earl Sherwood on Thursday,
November 12 at 2 p.m.
Theme of the meeting was
"Remembrance Day". Mrs.
Hugh McWhinney and Mrs.
Alvin Kerr were in charge.
Mrs. McWhinney opened
the meeting with a poem
about Fran Olson. "Count
Your Blessings" was sung
followed with scripture. This
part of the meeting was clos-
ed with prayer.
Mrs. Winifred Girvin
then thanked Mrs. Sherwood
for the use of her home and
welcomed everyone.
Roll call was answered by
11 members and six visitors
telling, "something which
made a nation strong."
Minutes of the last
meeting were read and
adopted. Correspondence
was also read and adopted.
The Christmas meeting is
to start with a pot luck din-
ner on December 17 at 12:30
p.m. Each member is to take
a small gift for a gift ex-
change.

vited to a Dungannon
meeting to hear specia
guest Sharon Alton with. he
flower arrangements.
Mrs. G. Kaiting was Nile's
special guest and her talk
was really enjoyed by
everyone. She spoke on the
"Woman of Samaria". If
Jesus had not spoken to this.
woman at the well, it would
have been a troubled world,
Mrs. Kaiting closed with
prayer.

I receive many questions
relating to drainage law. I
try to answer these to the
best of my ability using the
various resources I have at
my disposal., Of the .many
questions Ihiave been asked,
two which I. get most, often
;are If I drain my farm,
what do I have to dewith my
outlet water? Mso, What can
I do about surface water -run-
ning onto my farm from my
neighbour?.
The :following quote from
Judge Clunis, former Pro-
viticlal Drainage. Referee,
*should answer both of these
questions:
"Surface water, that is,
water not flowing in a defin-
ed watercourse, has no right
of drainage. " While a lower
owner cannot secure the
assistance of the courts' Tri
protecting his lands from the
flow of water, he may dam
the water back on the high
lands ,and actually caw
damage.;TThe oWner of
land has no right to damages
or other relief.. He .must ac-
cept theflooding. :

artificial works are con-

CLINTON - The 412 students
at., Clinton Public School
were all back in class last
week and according to prin-
cipal M Taylor, the lice pro-
blem there .may be under
control.
Mr. Taylor reported that a
check at -the school was car
ried out by the Huron County
Health Unit last week and
only ' two students were sent
home. They returned to class
the next day after another in-
spection showed that the pro-
blem had been cleared up.

blem, °which began in the
school early in September
and saw more than 80.

stressed that the school is
still taking precautions to en-
sure that another outbreak
won't occur.
