You say you don't see the family. Hight, Because
Mom is at her bridge party, Dad has an important
client to see, Christy has cheerleading practice,
and Jim has a date. They hardly ever do anything
together anymore.
Maybe that's why kids grow up without parents
really knowing them. Why teenagers get in trou-
ble, Why marriages go on the, rocks,
This Sunday do something together again. Visit
us at church. You'll learn about a personal God
who really cares about you and your family. And
you'll learn some .practical things about life that
• hit pretty close to home.

BY THE REVEREND'
AUSTIN GEDCKE,
BETHELPENTECOSTAL
ASSEMBLY
I opened my morning,
newspaper, read the'
headlines "All Signs Point to
Canadian Recession", and
mentally asserted, "Here we
go again!" Many are deeply
concerned about these dif-
ficult economic times...high
cost of money, high cost of
food and clothing, escalating
costs for housing, tran-
sportation, etc. When will it
all end, we wonder? We most
assuredly have learned from
history thatdepression times
bring out the worst in people
as well as, occasionally, the
best. Nervous breakdown,
heart attack, suicide and
more. But these tragedies
need not happen in 1981.
In His day, our Lord Jesus
Christ discovered a worried,
anxious people. So, He gave
more teaching on worry than
on adultery or murder. Not.
because ' it was a worse sin,
but because it was more
prevalent. Jesus recognized
worry as a sin, because It
called into question the
goodness and faithfulness of
God. So Jesus told them how
to banish worry from their
lives, and His prescription
would benefit many today.
Firstly, He tells us that we
worry about the wrong
things. We fail to put first
things first. e,,
Life is bigger and fuller
than a few needs of the body.
God promises that if we seek
salvation and righteousness,
our other needs will be
supplied.
"Seek ye first the kingdom
of God, and His
righteousness; and all these
things shall be added unto
you" (Matthew6:33)
Secondly, He tells us:tolive
one day at a time. "Be not
anxious for tomorrow". The
worrier triples the troubles
of life. He lives through them
in anticipation, in realization
and in retrospect. Why pull
tomorrow's cloud over
today's sunshine?
Thirdly, He tells us about
our heavenly Father who
will never forget us. We are
children of God. He feeds the
birds and clothes the
flowers. Will He not do as
much for His children? Of.
course He will! Now, let's be
sure we're in His special
family. Only those who have
been born into God's
spiritual family...only those
who have put God's kingdom
and his righteousness first in
living...can truly expect
God's provisions. God's
peace, protection and
provision cannot be fully
enjoyed until His salvation
has been experienced. That's
why Jesus said, "Ye must be
born again".
One dark evening, a man
slipped and rolled down a
steep, rocky hillside. He
stopped his descent by
grasping a bush which left
him dangllng in the air. He
could not move upward, and
below was darkness. He
strained every muscle as he
kept a tight grip on the bush.
Finally, his strength was
exhausted an despair he let
go and dropped...just six
inches! Many of us worry
and struggle with our nerves
at high tension when all the
time we only need to let go
and drop into the
"'everlasting- arms of God"
just beneath us.
I refer to the title of my
article, ,and seriously ask
you...have you been
spiritually sabotaged?
'Sabot' is the French word
for a wooden shoe. Sabotage
then, was the practice of
throwing a wooded -shoe into
the machinery to stop the
work. It has come to mean
any attempt to hinder
production or spoil a
product. Well, there is a
wooden shoe that Satan
would cast into our souls to
hinder us in living vic-
toriously in a difficult world;
that `sabot' is worry, which
casts a cloud between a
person and his God. It
paralyzes the spirit, sours
the disposition, and hinders
the work of Christ Let urs
take the words of Jesus as a
source of comfort and en-
couragement, "Be not
anxious...". Don't be filled
with anxiety. Don't worry.
Trust in God.
And remember, watch out
for wooden shoes! Down with
spiritual saboteurs.
