Rosalyn iller makes name n ew wave Toronto fashion scene Rosalyn Miller, 27 -year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Miller of Goderich, is making quite a name for herself on the Toronto new wave fashion scene. Some fashions designed by Rosalyn were recently featured in a Toronto Star photo spread under the heading: Trendy togs treated as classics. Rosalyn is a graduate of G.D.C.I. and studied fashion at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Toronto. She was later one of a select few students e.hosen to attend Galasso, a private fashion design school. Rosalyn now has her own boutique called Outer Limits, located at 316 College St., Toronto. Her designs are sold there as well as at the Cat's Cradle and Stoneworks boutiques. In the Toronto Star photo spread and article on Rosalyn, fashion writer Ellen Bot says that her wholesomeness extends to her designs. "Her Outer Limits boutique is crammed with contradictions—a snug striped catsuit shares a rack with classic corduroy trousers. Her skinny mini is teamed with a puffed sleeve shirt that looks more sweet than sexy. _ Miller even pairs, tight puckered pants with a roomy tunic T-shirt so the wearer won't feel so exposed," writes Bot. She says that it is no surprise that the woman behind the second -skin skirts and slacks carries a trim 110 pounds on her five-foot five -inch frame and she explains that except for her vivid scarlet lipstick and tousled mane of curls, Rosalyn looks more girl -next-door with her wide ex- pressive eyes and creamy complexion than new wave designer. In the article, Rosalyn insists that her snug styles are more comfortable than constricting. She uses cotton -polyester and wool knits to create `clothes you can move in'. Says Bot, "Although puckered pants might be a flash in the fashion pan and jumpsuits jump in and out of style about every three years, Miller treats these. trendy togs as classics, re -cutting them in different fabrics and colors each season. For instance, her puckered pants are available in a pewter shiny Spandex and her two-Ye,ar-old zippered jumpsuit gets fall treatment in a black cotton knit fabric." Adopt -a -Gran aids elderly Famous Canadian per- sonalities, Charlie Far- quharson and Maureen For- rester have adopted 'Grans' through Help the Aged's ADOPT -A -GRAN program. Adopt -A -Gran is a very personal way of showing an old person who has nothing, that you care. These old peo- ple are all residents of poor, third -world countries, where there are no pensions; medical help or often even adequate shelter. They have no friends or family who can care for them. The basic re- quirements,of these destitute old folk are being met by one of the caring bodies, approv- ed by Help the Aged. For just $12 per month, Canadians can adopt a `Gran' and are encouraged to write letters to this newest member of their family.
