In the opener, Jim Martin shut down the awesome McGee hitting machine allowing just three hits as G&P downed McGees 2-0. G&P took advantage of two errors as Brian MacLean 'singled; and scored on an error as did Bill Wraith. That proved to be all Martin ceded in his best outing of the year. Ken Daer pitched well in relief allowing two unearned runs on five hits while fanning eight. Mike Petre had' two doubles in a.losing effort for McGee s. In the second game, it was G&P who made the mistakes, committing four errors °' and walking four which resulted in a 7-1 vic- tory for McGees. McGees took advantage of G&P miscues to score in • every inning but the first and last. Leading the attack for McGees was Ron Klages who rebounded from a hitless first game to bang out two hits. Walter Bell had two hits for t&P. Ken Daer allowed only three hits in his second impressive outing in a row. In the rubber match, McGees scored four first - inning runs and coasted to a 6-2 victory. McGees jumped on Jim Martin early as Paul Kelly, Ron K'lages, and 1Rick Sowerby all singled. Ron Sowerby added. a : double.. Mike Petre fdflowed with a single. G&P scored a run in the first on Brian Rumig's RBI single. McGees put the game away in the third as Mike Petre singled and Ken Daer reached base on an error. Clare .Harmon then singled to score both. G&P added a late run. Leading• McGees were Klages, Ron Sowerby, and Mike Petre with two hits while Rumig led G&P with two hits. Daer threw a four hitter to take the win: Doherty, Tigert lead Company to win Bob Tigert had two singles which led to two runs and Dean Doherty threw a four - hitter as Canada Company eliminated the Bedford Hotel in a 2-1 thriller Wednesday ht. The Dukes opened the scoring in the second when Ron Austin singled and wound up at third on an error. Del Mitchelmore followed with a single to score Austin. That proved to be all for the Bedford as Doherty allowed only one more.hit the rest of the way. Canada Company tied it in the third when Bob Tigert singled but was forced at second by Rob McDonald. Brian Shewfelt unloaded a triple to• score McDonald and tie the game. They won it in the sixth when Rob Standen reached base on a fielder's choice, stole second, reached third when the throw was wild and scored on Tigert's . clutch two -out single. Doherty held the Bedford hitless over . the last three innings. Also pitching an outstanding game was Rob Plunkett who held C.C. to just five hits"in a losing ef- fort. Langlois a "one-man wrecking ':crew" Simon Langois proved to be a one-man wrecking crew as he belted two home runs and knocked 'in all four runs as' Lakeport Advertising ousted Fisher Buildersfrom the playoffs with a 4-2 win. Lakeport opened the scoring in the first with the aid of the opposition as Bill Galldw and Greg . Hansen both reached base on errors. Langlois then unloaded a three -run shot to put the Advertisers up 3-0. He added a solo blast in the third and also had a sixth inning ,single. Fisher's scored one in the fifth when Dennis Lebrun"tripled home Jim -Bell who singled, and added on in the seventh when Gerry•Durstsingled in Bell. ' Fishers wasted a golden opportunity in the sixth when they had three consecutive singles but failed to score. Loser John Verway gave up only five hits in the loss while Fishers tagged Langlois with nine hits but left nine stranded on base. Pla er of the week Honorable mentions go to Ken Daer with two im- pressive wins and Simon Langlois whose two homers beat Fishers, and C.C.'s Brian Shewfelt who had six hits in three games. Dean Doherty, perhaps the most consistent pitcher in the Industrial Fastball League, won three games as he allowed only six runs and 13 hits to lead Canada Company to their series wins over Bedford and Lakeport. +Ir 4, 441' +Ir OPPORTUNITIES OFA LIFETIME Just Phone or Visit THE CANADIAN FORCES RECRUITING CENTRE 520 Wellington Street, London, Ontario NAA 102 Phone 679-5110 or our Mobile offices in the Federal Building 12:00 p.m. -4:30 p.m. Sarnia Every Wednesday Stratford... 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month Goderich .. 1 st and 3rd Thursday of each month Woodstock 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month Tillsonburg Last Mondayn of each month There's No Life Like It THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES
