Rob McDonald led off the

single and sped all the way
home as the ball rolled to the
fence, as Canada Company
upset the first -place
Lakeport Steelers in two
straight games,
Lakeport opened a 2-0 edge
on Canada' Company in the
first inning •on Bruce.
Bowman's two -run single,
but Canada Company took
the lead in the fourth scoring
five runs. Dean Doherty and
Rob Standen singled and
both scored on • Lakeport

Brian Shewfelt followed

Bran Bowman followed with

batters. In the fifth, Doherty
led off with a single and
Brian Shewfelt reached first
when his sacrifice attempt
was fumbled. Both advanced
on Bill Tigert's fly and
Standen followed with a hit
to left,
Doherty held Lakeport
hitless over the last five
innings to gain the victory.
MacKenzie allowed only
three hits in a, tough loss.
Lakeport should be
congratulated for a 'fine
season, finishing in first
place and may they db well
in the Labor Day tour-
nament.

French gains tie with
Gord's to stay alive
French Cleaners staved off
elimination with a 6-5 victory
Sunday after Gord's took the
opener 9-3 in Industrial
Fastball League quarter-
final play.
In the opener, Gord's used
a six -sun second inning to
propel them to victory. Dave
Scholl banged a triple in that
inning. French scored three
late -inning runs but fell far
short.
Leading the II -hit parade
were Dave Scholl, Phil
Petrie, Bob Reihl, and Jim
Ginn who had two hits each.
Glen Ferguson had two hits
for French. Winner Des
Courtney allowed just six
hits while loser Don Bogie
was raked for 11.
In game two, French
overcame a 4-1 deficit to
upset third place Gord's.
After three scoreless in-
nings, Gord's erupted for
four runs in the fifth on
singles by Andy Moore and•
Bob Reihl, and a double by
Myles Murdock.
French replied with
unearned runs in the fourth
• and fifth but Phil Petrie put
Gord's up 5,2 with a home
run in the sixth. French then
used three walks and singles.
