The quartet's $3,000 "fun- ny money" bid outdid the competition for two weeks' accommodation at a resort condominium, the most priz- ed item at the auction spon- sored by. the theatre in Grand Bend. The challenge auction operated on a. funny money system in which contributors to the theatre fund were given a $3 bill for bidding purposes m exchange for each real dollar donated. Proceeds from the auction bring the theatre's fund- raising total to more than $80,000 - about $20,000 from the theatre's target figure, Redick said.
