because 1 will not babysit the crowd from a beer
tent."
• McCallum favored the former land fill site but
urged council to include an indoor facility in the
plans. .
The Kinsmen Club has been staging a successful
beer tent in. Court House Park for many years in
conjunction with the Carnival. He told council that if
one club was asked to relcicate it would only be fair to
ask others to do the same. But he suggested that
relocation would not be beneficial to all groups.
The Kinsmen Carnival and beer tent draws people
to the Square, Jeff Fisher said, adding that a move
would take people away from the town's core area.
"There are more people happy with the beer tent than
people upset with it," he said. -I lived on ft* Square
and there was more noise on a Friday night from tire
'squeeling than from any beer tent."
Doug Fisher said that more than $130,000, ex-
cluding Lions Club fund raising ventures, was
pumped intothelown by service clubs. He said these
events took up a small percentage of time in a year
while the community reaped large benefits.
