wins lawn bowling
championship
petition was won by Marg'
Conlon and Bob Dick who
defeated a team from Toron-
to and two teams from Port
Elgin to win their trophies
and prizes. Lori. Hassall and
Dave Willis got' to the con-
solation Hilal but lost_a close
match 8-6. Bill Shewfelt and
Tracy MacEwan won their
first match and lost in the se-
cond round.
The men's doubles com-
petition was won by Chris
Edwards and Ted Wright of
Owen Sound. In the best
match of the weekend, John
Brown and Jim Costello lost
in the semi-finals to Chris
and Ted, 941 after an exciting
tie-breaker. Ronan and.
Peter Condon upset a strong
team from Kincardine 8.6
and that lost to the eventual
champions.
The weekend was exciting
for both, competitors and
fans who went te cheer for
the Goderich athletes.

Looker. The draw winner
was Bob McDougall.
On July 21,.261adies played
2 -ball. Low gross wumers
were Shelagh Sully and Jean
Smith, Hazel Beaver- and
Sally MacEwan, Ardith
Brissette and Penny Peters,
and Jean Hanly and Carol
Hunter. Bud Elliott and
-Dorothy Worgan won the
Hidden Hole. •
An the ladies were invited
to Chris Hoffineyer's home
for a swim, but there were
only two brave ones as the
air was pretty chilly. Hot .
dogs and yummy desserts
provided by the ladies were
thenenjoyedby all.
All the different matches
are being played off ill their
proper times. The Rose Bowl
and the Mini Rose Bowl are
still being played, the two -
ball match has just one more
to go.
On. July 14, the Maitland
Country Club ladies played
golf with first flight winner
being l'ularie-Hiiff; putts
winner was Ardith Brissette.
Jean Knight was first in
the second flight with 'Bess
Smith winning putts; third
flight was won by Sally
MacEwan with Vern Frith
corning in second and Carol
Hunter winning putts; fourth
flight winners were Maryln
James, Joyce Shack, Irla
Stewart, with Nonie Collier
winning putts. Closest to pin
No. 1 was Carol Hunter.
On July 20, 34 men played
golf on a very warm night
which was just what Don
Edwards needed. He came in
first with his best game ever
shooting a 41 net 25. Second

cessful ladies' fun day was
held with 14. present.
Everyone had a most en-
joyable time and are looking

August 21.
A ladies' doubles tourna-
ment took place at the Picton
Street greens on July 22 with
eight greens and 32 ladies
taking advantage of a
beautiful day. One game was
played in the morning and a
delicious pot luck meal was
enjoyed at the noon hour.
After lunch, two games
were played and the winners
were as follows: first prize
was won by Irene White, skip
and Margaret Allison, lead,
Goderich; second prize to
Mary Fisher, skip and part-
ner of Lucknow; third prize,
Willa Williams, skip and
Helen Faikiner, lead of
Goderich. Nora Finnigan
and her partner, from
Wingham, took fourth place.
The team of Olive Hicks and
partner from Exeter came in
for the consolation.
